A very good product I use is called,"Vinylex by LEXOL". This product specifically cleans vinyl, rubber and plastic. It cleans, shines, and protects all at once. If you have leather, they have one product to clean (LEXOL ph), and one to condition. These are the only three that I need to keep my car interiors looking good. I have used many products and IMO these work great. They cost anywhere from $9.00 - $13.00 each, and can be purchased at a local parts store to Ebay. Sometimes you can save $$ by getting thru Ebay.

Re: Cleaning the Interior!

I use Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner. It's also safe for leather (but I wouldn't put it on my leather without conditioning it with Pinnacle leather conditioner afterwords).

For protection, you can't go better than 303 Aerospace Protectant. You can actually get it locally at Ace Hardware too. For a good shine on exterior stuff and under the hood, Meguiar's Hyper Dressing is great for that.

after a few times of using it, you will notice a difference in the color of the plastic, it will look foggy and discolored in areas. then its only time until it will dry out and start to stress crack.

+1 on 303 Aerospace Protectant. It's the best stuff for interior plastics that I've ever used.

Re: Cleaning the Interior!

other wise, if you don't care about how shiny it is, you can just use WINDEX to clean all of the interior. thats what i do to my car, and it works really well. it doesn't dry out anything, but then again, it doesn't add shine, just gets all of the dirt and grease off.

Windex contains ammonia which will dry out all of your plastic. Ever seen purple tint? Just because you cant see thru your interior plastic doesnt mean it isnt doing the same negative effects it has on window tint. Plastic is a very sensitive substrate and you should only use appropriate cleaners on it depending on the type of plastic.

Re: Cleaning the Interior!

There are 2 ways to this, first I would just use a bottle of Windex because it is not too strong or causeyour plastics any discolor and a soft brissle brush and rag, 2nd was since I am currently changing over from my grey to Black I took all my Black peices and washed them with ordinary dish soap and soft brush and layed them out to dry, then I used a light coat of tire gel on an aplicator andmade them look like new again, come to think of it I could of used some semi-gloss black spray can and re-colored them to give that light gloss that does not need to be reaplied with armorall, maybe next time I guess.

Re: What do you use for cleaning the plastic interior?

The reason why you shouldn't use an "armor-all" and similar greasy products is that they are OIL based. Any WATER based cleaner/conditioner will do very well for cleaning plastic, vinyl, and leather.

I was a detail manager and that was part of the job knowing all that stuff. Blue Coral stuff is ok, but Meguiars is much better.

Re: What do you use for cleaning the plastic interior?

I tried the new Turtle Wax "Ice" for interiors this weekend and I liked it. Seems to give a clean showroom look without the shiny look. I don't use anything on my dash pad and it is perfect with no cracks. I just wipe it down with clean water. Armour all will eventually crack these pads.

I was watching Stacey David on Gearz and he used trisodiumphosphate (he said you could pickup at the hardware store) to clean plastics before applying Duplicolor plastic vinyl paint...

Wow, I'm really glad I decided to look up what to clean the interior with. I was about to pop open a new thing of Armor-all Proctector stuff and wipe down my uncracked-original dash. Thank you for saving my Iroc an embarrassing crack!

I have been using Meguire's #40-not too shiny, supposed to be good long term.

Re: What do you use for cleaning the plastic interior?

I use Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Protect (http://www.meguiars.com/?vinyl-rubbe...n-Tech-Protect).
They have some decent interior stuff (http://www.meguiars.com/estore/produ...ectionID=12101).

I've been very happy with it. I actually found that I only need to use it a couple times a summer. In between, all I need is a damp cloth to make my interior look like I just applied it. Good stuff.

You can buy Windex without ammonia.
