Have I bit off to much?

I want to install new interior in 87 GTA Vert. New carpet, seats, door panels, basically restore the interior. Going stock with the restore. Has anyone done this. Am I bitting off more than I can chew?

There's no reason to think so. Everything is straightforward and reasonably uncomplicated.

Well it depends how much do you want to chew or spend. Local junkyards sometimes are a gold mine sometimes. Ebay is also but can get expensive. I just finshed my interior and went from the gray interior look to all black. New carpet, Sem Product Paint, Seats out of a 30th Annisy camaro, redid the Headliner myself. It looks awesome. Now the body is next. My camera is either dead or sick so no pics at this time. I got most of my part from a local junkyard and Wednesday due to being half price day. Got the seats for $40 in great shape and small stuff off of ebay. I might have spent between $200 to $300 and did everything myself and that were you would save most of your money. Got a 88 Formula Hood this past weds for $30 bucks in black and perfect. Good Luck

Re: Have I bit off to much?

My 89 had a whole junkyard interior. Fourth gen leather seats, black carpeting and I made my own door panels. It all cost me around 200.

Didnt relize could get such deals in junk yard. You think can find GTA seats reasonable from junk yard or is it going to be better to buy new interior and reupholster car?

Will you be coming to ThirdGen Fest in Crete on Memorial Day weekend? I want to see your interior.

And I know of a interior guy that can redo you seats that is two blocks from that junkyard you go to (I think it is the one on Indianapolis) and he has very resonable prices. You could redo your current seats for a resonable price too. I just did my thirdgen leather power seats and they look great. No prics yet but they are coming soon.

Re: Have I bit off to much?

I think you should be fine. There is nothing that complicated about the interior. Take your time and have some patience and it will come out looking great.

Re: Have I bit off to much?

DO BODY AND PAINT FIRST!!! unless its already good. I did my interior and then body and paint and it really screwed up my nice interior having to tear it all back apart. Believe me, why redo it all and put it all in to just take it all back out again for body and paint!

Im hoping I can but would like the body done by then. As far as the leather. If I could get a leather kit for cheap Ive done swap before and its no biggie. My wife handles the corners because she has patience and I dont. Im going on vacation from the 5 to the 10 so theres a week that I cant work on it. Have you had people just come by with the birds in not so good shape and just show up to have fun and such. Also Im still deciding on the rear bumper. If a trade was possible any chance I can meet you in Lansing. I can give u a extra $10 for meeting me there for gas. Let me know.
