Headliner rewrap idea?
Okay so my headliner looks like someone used it as a shop rag. I yanked it from the car and want to do something unique to it. I was in the military and have a couple of old non-regulation American Flags laying around. If I were to trim two of them and have them mirror eachother with the stars up fron by the visors and the stripes running to the back of the car, would that look good or retarded in your opinions? I think I'd like it, but usually it helps to have other peoples opinions to really get the creativeness flowing.
Edit: It has T-tops.

Sounds like a cool idea to me. I don't know if I'd do it, but it would look cool if done right. My only concern would be if there's no foam laminate on the back of the flag, the adhesive may bleed through to the face.
Good Luck either way.

Sounds like a cool idea to me. I would do it if I hadn't already replaced my headliner. I think it would go well with the car. Just think of the nose emblems....they scream american flag so it would go along well in my opinion.

what's ******* about "our" flag. regardless the point was made about glue coming thru, this could happen depending on the thickness of flag. turn ur glue gun down lower and dont goop it up. also with t-top it's gonna be hard to align if ur not exp. in headliners, but could be fun!

Re: Headliner rewrap idea?
I can see what he's saying, if I screw it up somehow it probably would look a bit red neckish, but I think I'll be okay. I'm gonna lay down a coating of spray adhesive on the existing headliner then put down white teeshirt (cut up of course then hit it really lightly with more sprayadhesive then lay the flag down on it. That way the tee will absorb a lot of the residual, while the flag still sticks, and I'm gonna use shallow flat tacks on the side where it gets wrapped over to keep it all tensed together till the glue dries. I'll post pics when it's all done, whether it sucks or not lol.

Re: Headliner rewrap idea?
I wouldn't recommend pressing it down on the T-shirt, it will push the adhesive into the flag. I would put down the T-shirt and let it adhere to the existing headliner. Then I would put a light coat on to the T-shirt and lay the Flag on it after it's gotten good and tacky, then with as little pressure as possible, spread it out smooth.

Re: Headliner rewrap idea?
Hey i'd recommend going for it. sounds like a good idea and i'e heard of ppl doing similar things.... If your not sure then just tack it up at first and see what you think of it (this way you have a better "visual") Also make sure you post some pics

Re: Headliner rewrap idea?
I'm still working on it lol. I've gone from american flag, to a slightly different print with the stars and stripes on it. Couldn't bring myself to buy an actual American Flag and cut it up. But I'm still working on it, and the pics will be up when I finish it.
