speedo swap? Is this correct? HELP!!
Hey guys!! Just a quick question. I have an 86 iroc with 145 speedo. When I pull the headlight switch, my volt gauge & oil gauge drop to zero and my tach pegs out. More than likely it is my circuit board on gauge cluster. I see the dual needle 85mph clusters on ebay cheaper than the 145 clusters. My question is can i simply buy the earlier cluster and swap in my 145mph speedo? And will I need to change anything else? Thanks!!

you would be better off getting a cluster from an 85-89, with the same guage package...not an idiot light cluster. Then yes the speedo and other guages will swap right over.

The cluster I have now has the idiotlights at the botom. the cluster im looking to buy looks the same except for the speedo. I am considering it because its 50 bucks cheaper than a 145mph cluster.

As far as I know, you can sway the speedo without any problems. There is nothing that I can think of that would be different since they are both 82-89 style.
