'92 anniversary instrument panel

i have been having problems with my speedometer. it will act fine for a couple miles of driving and then all of a sudden it will just stop. i took the whole panel out and there is no speedometer cable to check its all electric back there. iv asked many people and they said it could be the ecm or a speed sensor on the tranny i don't want to buy something and it be the other. if anyone has a fix or what it is it would be very much appreciated.

Re: '92 anniversary instrument panel

I would suspect the speed sensor, it's not that common than an ECM fails. However, since it works sometimes, it might just be a bad connection at the speed sensor. I would check that first, before replacing anything. It's located on the transmission tailshaft, on the drivers side. If I remember correctly, it's a 2 prong plug.
