4th gen rear seat belts don't fit...
Ok, so I bought a set of 4th gen seat belts to match my seats. The front go in fine. I get to the rear belts and the notch on the retractor didn't fit in the slot. So today I ground down the notch to fit in the slot, and now I find out the retractor itself is too tall. I was under the impression that both the front and rear seat belts would work. Has anyone gotten the rear seat belts to fit? If I take off the plastic cover, will it fit?

I did the front and rear swap on an 89 GTA. Its been too many years to remember exactly what I had to do, but I remember removing the plastic housing and just keeping the top portion so that when you look at the panel, you can only see the belt and not the complete housing. I know on the front belts I reused the original 3rd gen cover that sits on the sillplate. I simply took a black panhead self tapping #2 phillips and used the existing hole in the back of the cover to srew directly into the plastic cover and the belt on the 4th gen piece. Held very secure and looked very respectable IMO.

Re: 4th gen rear seat belts don't fit...
Can you possibly post a pic of the seat belt setup you did, Razor? I've been debating whether to go with an expensive seat cover kit for my IROC or change it to all black. I'm thinking all black interior would be awesome. Plus I could get the Seat belts and seats from a 4th gen, probably, cheaper then getting the covers for my factory seat. If I do get the 4th gen belts I would like to see how covered the 4th gen belt trim with the 3rd gen.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I sold that car a few years ago and I don't have pics anymore. Basically you can leave the plastic on the 4th gen belt but it will stick out past the 3rd gen cover. If it bothers you, you can trim the 4th gen plastic back a few inches so that it doesn't show, just the belt. There is a small amount of trimming to do on the 3rd gen cover on the opening where the 4th gen belt goes through, but take your time and when its done it looks like it belongs on the car.

Mine came from a Trans Am, but they wouldn't be different would they? What do you mean you modded them different?
