Drip, drip, drip.... I don' want a back seat swimming pool! --- T-tops?
After a few weeks of sun, it started raining today. Time to cheack out my new thirdgen. Luckily I removed the backseats because there is a puddle there now.
Water is steadlily dripping from the left and right corners of the 'console attachement', or whatever it is called. I figured it either becasue of the t-tops or the hatch alignment.
But it is not the only 'wet spot'. Passenger front seat is dry, but the drivers seat and door carpet (below) is moist. Also t-tops leaks?

My 84 does that when it rains...but only when the car is sitting uneven, like on a hill...anyways, on my car the water was getting under the t-top weather stripping and getting in. Is your weather stripping all hard a flat? make sure that it's connected good. if not you can use some RTV sealer to seal it up tight.

Re: Drip, drip, drip.... I don' want a back seat swimming pool! --- T-tops?
I did a couple of searches. It probably leaks where the wetaherstripping is attached to the body, not where it seals.
I also found the tech article "T-Top Leak Fix"
https://www.thirdgen.org/ttopleakfix
I will try and adjust my hatch by unbolting it and the gas shocks, and push it about 1/4 inch forward. Rebolt, reattach shocks. That should take care of the gap.
For ttops i'm gonna tie em down by lowering the adjuster. And then try to follow the patch of the water. If it it still leaking the silicone seal method will be applied.
Still no result then the weatherestripping will be replaced compeltely. There is a goof tech article for that too! It is called "Replacing T-Top Weather Stripping"
https://www.thirdgen.org/ttops
Well, I'll try this in the next week en keep you guys posted. Give me you input on how it goes with your backseat swimmingpool!

This is actually a very common issue amoung T-Tops; I'm lucky mine dosnt leak at all but your leak is most likely a weather striping problem; your best bet is to replace it I would think.

Re: Drip, drip, drip.... I don' want a back seat swimming pool! --- T-tops?
Reviving an old thread. I put new weather stripping in...that OER stuff from Classic Industries. The car still leaks. One spot on the drivers side, drips down right on the seat. Second spot on passenger side, leaks down just in front of the passenger seat. Third spot..on the back passenger seat. It looks as if it's running along the roof from the T-top area and collecting on the screws hidden by the interior piece because the metal above the roof liner is wet. These are the same three places it was leaking BEFORE I replaced my 26 year old weather stripping. UGH! Any suggestions?

It sounds like water is coming in through the A-pillar. Then flowing down to the T-bar and out by the rear seat.
The leaks on the front seats are the side/secondary weather stripping on the t-tops. Did you adjust the t-tops and windows accordingly?
what adhesive did you use?

I took some silicone sealant and used it on the front edges of all the weather stripping on the T-tops where it goes down into the channel. Also, I used it to seal up the front and rear areas where the t-tops slide under that little metal bracket in the center. Hopefully it filled up the little crevases that the water was getting into.
Just snowed last night here though, and for the first time in 10 years, the car is my DD, not just my summer car. So we'll see how it holds up this winter. Not looking forward to seeing how my positive bias posi is going to work on snow. LOL So, unless we get a good melt, I'll probably have to wait till spring to see how it holds up.

I had a shop install the weatherstripping because I had the car in to replace the door hinges anyway. I have not adjusted the windows, something that probably needs to be done.
