Tan PMD seats for '82 TA?
Hello,
This is my 1st post here; glad to be apart of this club! I'm looking for a set of front & rear tan PMD seats. I'm posting here because I can't post in Classifieds yet? Anyone help?

you'd be lucky to find PMD seats, let alone tan,
i'd suggest you change your name, some people find out that your building a KR replica & imediatly jack up their prices, that being said i have a pair of damaged black PMD's for $800.

The always consistent high prices of PMD's, tan interior trim, 15" bowling ball caps, 15" turbocast rims...ect will never change regardless of whether my name is kittbuilder or howdydoody!
I appreciate your reply & advice...but anytime you ask for these types of things it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what the car owner is doing regardless of what you call yourself.

good point, but some people will give you a good price on some of these parts, whether they know what you want them for or not, i actually do have a set of PMD's but i'm not sure if i want to sell them yet or not, but i doubt i'll ask $800 for them, that was a joke,

I'm really looking for a nice tan set...even in the leather if possible with the rear. I can buy a completely new recovered from Mark's Custom Kitts for $1,800, but I was hoping to pay half that for ones even slightly used.

"Knight Freaks...sigh"???
Hey Fast68 w/ your retarded TRIX AVATAR (& you call US freaks???)...
If you knew anything about a KR replica, then you'd know that the beauty of these replica cars is that they're NOT "ruined/hacked" cars & actually about 90% true to their original form other than a custom nose & dash.
Instead of sending other members insulting messages & "poking fun" of people's dreams & goals, why don't you work on posting some pics of something other than cereal boxes on your profile & show us that "none yet" engine & '77 Chevy Van tranny in your "factory/stock" Trans Am you A-Hole!

naaa i am just biased a little, thats all
i really prefer factory originality when it comes to interior and exterior of a vehicle, under the hood it doesnt relaly matter ot me, but imho these cars are perfect how they came out other than their powerplants, i jut hate to see/hear of these 82 83 84 birds especially, getting taken apart and modfied and such, i cant help it
you may or may not understand, i dont know
good luck regardless

These 82-84 Birds were incredibly weak & an embarassment to the previous strong & powerful 2nd generation Bandit-style muscle cars of the late 70's. If your really & truely an early 3rd Gen car enthusiast, then you should really be grateful that a TV show like Knight Rider came along & actaully made something out of this 165 hp, Cross-Fire FI test-dummy car. If it wasn't for Knight Rider, you probably wouldn't have ever even seen this style car as a 1/18 diecast model or on a poster/t-shirt. Try going on Ebay & finding an 82-84 Firebird poster/diecast/shirt other than the black KR K.I.T.T. car? YOU WON'T!

Wow...a keychain & a tyco car???
What great finds!!!???
You can find cheap plastic models of everything from Pintos to horse manure trucks...as I stated in my previous post, find an '82-'84 Firebird 1/18 DIECAST that's not a KR car...
GOOD LUCK!

i dont believe that kitt had anything to do with any of the sales of the(especially 82) trans ams, i dont think any more or any less of them would have been sold without KR having been made
sure the engines were weak, but not the design and chassis/suspension, for the day
KR is just another marketing gimmick, or well was anyways
all this KR thing does is cause parts for these cars to be insanely sky high, and makes it hard or impossible for innocent owners who dont want anything to do with the stupid KR crap to get parts for their car, such as myself, it really ticks me off..
and unfinished KR conversions have ruined lots of these cars, some know it does and has often but some will and do deny it..
KR is and i will always believe so,
everyone has their own belief/opinion,
i just like to voice mine sometimes, as you do also
good luck

your better off going n ebay buying any kind of PMD seats no matter what condition. buy the cheapest set and then buy tan seat covers and have them installed. good luck. plus on a side note i wanted a kitt car but i wanted all my buttons to actually do something. so i'm installing my own design into my 86 trans am and my push buttons wil turn on something. but nothign wrong with a kitt replica jsut way too much darn money for jsut looks and not actually do anythign special.

Fast68,
I'm not going to waste much words on you because you obviously have no idea what your talking about & please stop replying to my post as your B.S. has nothing to do with my original search request.
You put a basic, stock '82 TA on the side of a KITT replica of the same year at a car show & whether your a KR fan or not...the end result of what car gets the most attenion is actually just like you...a NO BRAINER!
With all your posts & an actual group Co-Founder , you'd think you would actually know something about TA's.

ok listen just trying to help. i'm a big knight rider fan jsut can't spend 10 grand to get it to look right. yea it looks great no doubt. but i'm fabricating my trans am to my own style with a little knight rider touch like buttons and digital dash thats all. jsut sharing what i'm doing with you and everyone.
plus you said you were looking for seats. i gave you my suggestion take it or leaveit. not trying to say its not worth doing jsut sayin i wanted to but i dont have that kind of money to do it right. plus i want my car to have things inside it for a purpose not just to light up and done deal.

Thanks for the reply, Bobby.
With a KITT replica, you can't look at the total cost of it all at once...just what single item needs to be done next & of course, funds-allowing. Most people take years to build these cars & more importantly, build it right. A KITT replica is much more than just pretty lights & a fancy nose. You've got to respect the originality of the car as this was just as big of a part of KITT itself. After all, KITT (interior & exterior) was 90% original stock. Then there's mechanics, if the car doesn't operate/handle properly all those fancy lights & wheels are useless.
It really all comes down to how bad you really want a KITT replica (or in your case, something like it). Restoring any car can be frustrating at times & I can't even tell you how many times I've wanted to bail out on my car, but keep positive & you'll feel rewarded as time moves on & your car starts to take shape.
P.S. OH & MOST IMPORTANTLY...LEARN TO TAKE CRITISM FROM IDIOT NAH-SAYERS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. BUILD/CREATE THE CAR YOU WANT & DON'T LET NEGATIVITY GET IN YOUR WAY.

your right. i've wanted to bail out on my car already but i keep at it cuz i enjoy tinkering on that car and i have big ideas in my head. But i'm only 22 and i got parents with bigger future plans. So to keep everyone happy i put most of my mon ey in different bank accounts and even have a retirement account where every yr i put the max limit of 4 grand in it. I already have a pretty mint 1987 5spd camaro i want to keep original for sentimental reasons from it beign a gift my dad. so i always wanted a car i can jsut spice up and have fun driving with my own little modifications in it. i dont have the time or money for knight rider. and i'm just ticked taht the interior props are so freeakin exspensive its sickening. so i said screw it i'll make up my own thing in my car. plus i like tweaking the engine to get alittle extra boost without going too crazy.
anyways thats where i'm coming from. sorry for rambling on but good luck with your project.

It's kinda funny reading this thread. My 84 Bird when I bought it a few years ago came with a knight rider nose - and the first thing I did was rip it off and put a stock piece back in. I like the show and all, but I love the orginal beauty these cars had in 82 - 84.
To each their own I guess....

I have heard that in the show (Knight Rider, first season) kitt was referred to as a black trans am, or black pontiac trans am and that GM/ Pontiac ordered them to stop because a great deal of people were wanting to buy the modified version of the car. In addition, this is why you still see pontiac and firebird logos on the car during the first two or three episodes, then the whole car got blacked out, down to blacking out the arrowhead on the shifter button and blacking out the arrowhead on the bowling ball hubcaps, and even covering the distinctive yellow parking lights at the nose....if that's true or not, we'll never know, but I think that we can all agree that we drive great cars with a lot of history and sometimes sentimental value behind them.

Knight Rider blacked out alot of the "bird" logos because on the show it wasn't supposed to be a Firebird Trans Am, rather the Knight Industries 2000 super car of the future. That "GM ordering KR to stop doing" whatever is completely & utterly ABSURD & actually the complete opposite...not sure where you got that from??? Like the Bandit car did back in '77, sales boosted at the request of these Trans Am due to the popularity of the TV show & the desire to own a KITT car. And actually, the pontiac "V" logo remained on the wheels caps throughout all 4 seasons as did the PMD (Pontiac Motor Division) seats & interior with the PMD square logo clearly visible in the mddle of each front seat.
KR saved this generation Trans Am from complete humility & disgracing the Firebird name & heritage by transforming a basic, 2-door coupe with a weak 305 engine producing an embarrassing 165hp & a test-dummy problematic Fuel Injection system into the smartest, fastest, most technologically-advanced super car of the future! If it wasn't for so many fans of the show restoring these cars, turning them into KITT's & giving them a second chance at regaining Trans Am glory more than half of them today would be (and many ARE) growing grass through their floor boards in somebody's back woods! Oh...but the guys who have these "pure, original & untouched" 3rd gen Firebirds also haven't spent 1 red cent on their cars in the past 15 years!!!...give me a F$%^*@ BREAK! Sell that story to someone who'll buy a bridge off you too! Knight Rider ROCKS!!!

actually he's right, iif you have knight rider season 1 and watch the extras the workers or creator of teh show talked about pontiac calling and asking the show to stop callign it a trans am because they got so many orders for the special knight rider version that didnt offer but probably shoudl of in my opinion.

Yes, I am afraid he is right. KITT guy, take it easy man, not everybody is here to attack you.
I wanted to build a kitt replica but ended up selling my ,oh so beloved, car.
I have all the seasons and I watched every episode.
The funny things is, that pontiac tried to match the KR nose with their late model third gens. Hence the cool 91-92 nose.

Just some quick words of advice from a senior member, KITT CREATOR:
Many people on this site prefer their cars stock. They also don't like high prices, as owning a third gen can be a relatively inexpensive and rewarding experience. That being said - many of us have spent plenty of money on restorations, modfications, beautification, etc. without caring a lick about Knight Rider. Many of us LIKE the performance and feel of the early third gens.
When you come into a forum as a new user - you need to take everything with a grain of salt and not reply in inflammatory ways (like you have done). Inciting comparisons of "better" 2nd gen cars, calling people names, and making generalizations about members of the forum are quick ways to: not be replied to in any more threads, have your posts locked, and be reported to administrators. Scale back your language, have some respect, and know that because we are thirdgen enthusiasts we want to help you without being told how cheap or stupid we are.
Good luck with the PMD seats. I'd like a KR replica myself one day.

3.1EyeCandy,
If you look at the 1st post on this thread, I asked a simple question as a buyer looking for a particular part for my car. Simple & innocent enough, right?...since then, I've been told to "change my name" & have had people like Fast68 call ME a "freak" & verbally insult my car & hobby. Don't see you sending THEM any threatening "warning" messages though??? On the contrary, I'VE been the one that has been "called names & generalized" due to being a KITT car replica enthusiast. I'll never understand how it's OK for Firebird "purists" to put on completely custom hoods, pipes, front ends, interiors, low-rider kits...ect, but when KR replica builders put on a custom nose or dashboard alone we're "nerds" & "freaks." We're blamed for skyrocketing prices of parts like PMD seats & Turbocast wheels & so forth, but do you also blame the Bandit-style car guys for skyrocketing the prices of snowflake wheels & gold dash bezels? If the people who posted on this thread would have just only replied if they actually had something to do with the original question of this thread, then there probably wouldn't have been any bitter posts at all.
3.1EyeCandy...I suggest you read this thread from the beginning & see where the "name-calling" started & actually threaten-with-warnings those who first displayed a lack of "respect" & "inflamatory" remarks.

Personally, I took great offense at this comment
"These 82-84 Birds were incredibly weak & an embarassment to the previous strong & powerful 2nd generation"
I have an '84, it is my pride and joy that I've had since I was 16. I do not considered it an embarassment at all. Considering this is a third gen forum, I would not be surprised if you're getting flamed for that comment, among others.

The thridgen wasn't build for performance as a huge gas guzler, it was built for economics back in the days. The thirdgen is a car of it's kind like any generation. I wouldn't concider the 82-84 an embarassement, because they are a part of the line, the 82 bird had great curve handling and you could compare it to the ferrari and co back in 82. So I doubt it can be a weak embarassment if you ask me.
But that is for everyone to decide on their own. I WILL be getting myself an 82 Trans AM not just cause I love Knight Rider, but because I find the 82 the nicest model version availible, but that is just me.

Re: Tan PMD seats for '82 TA?
These 82-84 Birds were incredibly weak & an embarassment to the previous strong & powerful 2nd generation Bandit-style muscle cars of the late 70's. If your really & truely an early 3rd Gen car enthusiast, then you should really be grateful that a TV show like Knight Rider came along & actaully made something out of this 165 hp, Cross-Fire FI test-dummy car. If it wasn't for Knight Rider, you probably wouldn't have ever even seen this style car as a 1/18 diecast model or on a poster/t-shirt. Try going on Ebay & finding an 82-84 Firebird poster/diecast/shirt other than the black KR K.I.T.T. car? YOU WON'T!

Way to revive a 3 year old thread full of hate and slander, and no technical advice what so ever.
