Door chime doesn't work
The headlight warning/door chime in my RS doesn't work. I assume its under the dash somewhere? I don't see a fuse for it. I assume I should buy a new one, if I can even get one?
Hope someone has some experience with this...thanks to anyone who can help!

Well, since you took it out, I imagine you know where it is? How hard is it to replace?

IIRC, it is a rectangle black box under the turn signal flasher. It is located to the left of the steering column under the dash. It just pulls out like the flasher unit. Why do you want that annoying thing anyways?

Because, I'm doing a full restoration on the car, its the only thing I can think of that doesn't work, I'm **** retentive about my cars...
And I leave my lights on sometimes I'll take a look under there tonight...its either broken, missing or disconnected from the sounds of it.

Yeah, I've been wondering about this one too...my thirdgen seems to be missing it entirely. Annoying, sure, but I like having an all-GM car. In fact, most of the money I've spent so far has been correcting stuff that the previous owner replaced with incorrect or non-GM stuff. No more tiny purple ***** foglights for me!

There are two different kinds, one makes a buzzing sound, the other is a chiming sound. I believe the later models after '84 had chime. They are both interchangeable. I added one to my car because it didn't have one either. For some reason it doesn't buzz for the seatbelts though...if does make noise if you leave the key in the ignition and open the door, or keep the lights on. Check the junkyards. I got two from there.

if you worry about leaving your headlight's on then install a relay that kills them after a set time and have them come on with the ignition. simple as that. no dead battery and no annoying buzz. 4th gen's got the chime and the headlight switch that didn't break so damn easy.

Re: Door chime doesn't work
I like the old school sound of the buzzer, but my problem is is that I have two and they both randomly decided to not work anymore. I checked the fuze box and nothing was blown. So now what do I look for?! I can imagine one burning out but the other one I have is good, but doesn't work in the car either so now it's a problem with the connection?
