tan to black...so NICE

Was kind of sick of my old crappy tan interior. The was previousely in a scrap yard, so the interior wasn't in great shape
old int pic

biggest of removal is done

new black int...came from car part 91 z28

Now im only missig the top and the front carpet...it dosent look that bad with the tan floor. I had to mod some part since my car is an 86 but overall its great.

real nice find on the seats. did you have any trouble going from bench style to split-back style with the back seats?...

Re: tan to black...so NICE

It looks great and as Jim85 noted with the carpet will look really sharp.Nice seats are hard to come by and looks like you did very well.Did your car already have the driver's side latch for the rear seat back?Having a guide with your parts car right there had to be a big help.
And saying this even though my '83's interior is camel tan and I would change her.

Re: tan to black...so NICE

I agree, looks very nice, but it will look 10x better when you actually get the black carpet in there. I did the same swap in my Trans Am, tan to all black (plus a 4th gen center console). And when I put the black carpet, that did it. It will make a HUGE difference

I think it looked better before- it looked to be in good shape and the tan on black combo looks great.

Re: tan to black...so NICE

For those that have done it, how difficult is it to replace that front carpet? Does it require alot of parts being taken out for the swap? Is it something you can get done if a day?

Thanks Andrew

I just did an interior swap for the first time about a week ago. Taking the seats out are a breeze. Then you have the center console/radio pod. All the panels. Couple screws here and there. I had my carpet out in like a few hours, only because it was my first time. If you have any question about it or need help, just msg me.

Re: tan to black...so NICE

I agree, that when I replaced my front carpet, it wasn't too bad. It took me maybe no more than 3hrs. You have to take all the bottom plastic trim from the kick panels, to the back seatbelt covers. And of course, the seats and center console. The fun part is having a couple of screws leftover when you're done that you don't know where they're from...

Re: tan to black...so NICE

cool swap man! Looks great! I started my gray to black in my 89 t/a I am changing seats to 4th gen and also the seatbelts..... I have black carpet I got for 40.00 both pieces.... I got a gray/black rear seat out of the salvage yard for 30.00 and sold my split seat backs for 30.00.... I am going to recover or replace my door panels and modify a console for drink tray and armrest in the back.... Keep up the good work on your car! It will be very rewarding and cool to drive in car cruises and such..... or that cruise down the highway!

Re: tan to black...so NICE

will do if the carpet is in good shape it will work. I did the first apply, the only thing is you will have to rince off then apply again. its a little pain but will save some cash. I saw the guy selling the front carpet on this site so I am going to get it, but I am keeping the rear section I did. here is a few pics

as you can see in 2 of the pics the front needs another coat

Looks like it came out pretty nice. How many cans does it take to do each coat?

it don't come in cans, it is a powder that you add to water and spray on.
