Selling my '87 IROC
I would like to get a better price estemate on my IROC than kelly blue book...so i have come to the professionals.
1987 Camaro IROC-Z with the 350 TPI.
When i go to sell the car this is that it will have:
New Crate 350
New 700r4
The interior is in good condition (it is black with the driver side being power)
The body is in great shape...there is very little rust...normal fading and a scratch or two here and there (normal wear and tear for this year)
It does not have the factory sound system in it...i replaced it with all Pioneer Premeir Equipment. (totaling about $600, maybe more)
The tires are still fairly new
The guy who owned it before me just put on a new Flowmaster exhaust system (cat back i believe)
The only problems that i know of are:
the W/Washer pump is gone
the cruise control doesnt work
The AC was taken off (or the compressor at least, but i will sell that with the car, just not installed)
And i Cut 5 Small holes into the center console right next to the hatch lift for switches cause i was going to install a big Stereo System with neon lights and all but didnt.
I think that is it....overall the car is in Great Condition (in my opinion)
ohh yeah the body will have 130,000 miles on it (i think the car is at my parents house right now so i cant go check)
Reason for selling:
I am going to sell my IROC-Z and Saleen and i am thinking about buying a 90-95 full size Blazer/Tahoe or same year Chevy Truck...4X4
Thanks for any help...IF you e-mail me please do so at GR8Whte@excite.com and my AOL IM account name is GR8WhteIROC.

first off, what's with that enormous picture of whatever?? a pic of the car might help instead.
as for the car's value, it's hard to say without looking at it.
It sounds like it's far from mint, and it's definitely not low mileage, so it's not gonna be worth any money from a collector's standpoint.
but a new motor and trans do bring up the value.
I'd say depending on what it looks like in person, and how the market is for them around you, it could go as low as $2500 - $3000, or as high as $5000.
The $600 stereo isn't gonna sway the value one way or another for 90% of the people who would look at the car.

Is there something wrong with the engine that is in it? If it runs I would sell it as is. By the time you do an engine swap you'll probably end up spending more than the swap will add to your value. Many people would also rather do work like that themselves. The holes in the console may not seem like a big deal but can be expensive to replace.
Post some pics of it so we can get a better idea of the condition.

Thanks everyone for posting...I know I don’t have any pics posted but my dad just bought a digital camera and when I get some time I will post some (hopefully in the next day or two).
As for The Wraith
"First off, what's with that enormous picture of whatever?? A pic of the car might help instead."
Like I said..sorry for no pic but my dad just got his Digital camera today. But as an FYI it is a pic of me and a group of my friends in the desert.

Yes right now the engine has a bad knock in the top end of the engine...I am thinking it is a collapsed lifter or two. And the transmission is cooked...if it is rebuild able it would be a very serious rebuild.
My roommate works for a local Chevy dealership and I can get a brand new crate 350 engine (long block I believe it is called) with everything but the induction system on it for real cheap...this is the only reason why I am going to put a new engine in and not rebuild the current engine.

Yes I seen the classified board but I also seen that you cannot get replies. I had also done a search and seen that this is where everyone else is posting the same sort of question. Sorry if this is an inappropriate post for this board.
again...thanks for everyone’s help.

I would ask you guys but for some reason i think you might be biased (spelling)

SEE I KNEW YOU GUYS WOULD BE BIASED!!! but no seriously..i dont know what i want to do...i am keeping my options open....i am either going to
1) sell the stang keep the IROC...and dump a bunch of money into it and make it one mean ride
2) sell the IROC and keep the stang...but have a hellatious car payment...and just have a nice car.
3) Sell both and buy a 95 Yukon (or some other Chevy SUV/Truck the same year)
but i honestly dont now what i want to do...but right now i am leaning toward the truck idea...second would be keep the IROC.

Why keep returning this thread to the top?
The thread has been around for over a week and no one is really interested. Everytime you move it to the top you bump a thread down that more people may have been interested in.
Your car is only worth what someone is willing to pay. There isn't anything that makes it worth anymore than another. Do some research and figure out what you think its worth, thats all that matters. If we tell you its worth $500 you're still going to ask whatever you want to ask for it. If you really want to know what its really worth, then get the car appraised.
