Carpet from Summit
Has anyone used the carpet that Summit sells?
Its listed on their website, limited color availability. It doesn't say much, and I am too lazy to call a tech line... So has anyone used it? How's it compare to the stock carpet?
I need to replace the carpet in my gray car along with my interior conversion from gray to black. Since I'm not showing the car it doesn't have to be an exact match, just the right color. The price is the best price I've seen yet for thirdgen carpet...

thanks, but I'm looking for the cheapest carpet money can buy since I still need to take care of body work, an engine swap, hood, spoiler, wheels, tires, etc...
Classic Industries sells ACC carpet which is good stuff, but I need to know more about the Summit carpet.

Dont forget " You Get What You Pay For"
Well yes and no. Summit is a larger company that Classic Industries and Year One and other companies that sell thirdgen carpet. As a result they could buy carpet in bulk and sell it cheaper. Not to mention I dont want perfect carpet in my beater cause then I'd feel back about using the car. For a concourse restoration, I'm going to use ACC carpet. But for my beater, when I only want the carpet to be the right color and look basically correct, I'm looking for a cheaper alternative.
BTW I just searched summits website again, and now they list ACC carpet, and Ohio Auto Mat carpet. The ACC carpet is special order and doesn't have a price listed, the OAM carpet is $117 for the front and $124 for the rear, for a grand total of $241. ACC carpet from Year One is $250 for the set. Neither includes shipping.
Assuming both have similar shipping charges, they're probably about the same... any more cost effective options?

I used GM Muscle out of NC and it was like $99 for the front half. Nice carpet, molded properly and pleny on the side to trim. They had ads in Super Chevy.
Damn Drew, you'd usually have half a screen typed by know about people buying cheap parts
I understand about the beater car. Can't make it too nice or you won't beat on it!

Car: To many to list
Do NOT get the Ohio carpet!I got it from summit about 2 years ago and it sucks. It was not even close to being cut right for the console.IT had almost no "mold" or padding to it.I called about it being a POS and because I had to cut it to try to get it to fit I was stuck with it.It sits in the box it came in inside the garage.I guess I will use it for a tarp or something.

Hmm... FWIW the ACC carpet has a tiny hole in the center for the console but its definitely no where close to being the right size. Also the ACC carpet doesn't have holes cut for seat belt bolts, the rear seats, it doesn't have the notches for the power seat wiring, it has a very thin layer of padding maybe 1/4" thick, etc. And it has to be worked with to make it countour to the floor of the car... Not exactly take it out of the box and just drop it in.
I might just go used, I just don't like the idea of breaking into my old camaro and digging down to the carpet, then vacuuming out the glass from the rear hatch... My 83 had really nice carpet that I stole out of a 91RS, but someone already salvaged the drivers door handle, so I'd have to literally break in the drivers side. Not to mention that the front and rear suspension (including differential) is laying in the front seats... Hmm... maybe not... I might just have to wait till another car with black interior comes into the lot.
