My car is a sham.. *sob*

I have a black gold 1984 ta with recaro seats. Didn't know there was a recaro ta made that year and later found out my car matched many of the requirments. Seats, color, decals (5.0.HO). So i though sweet a recaro. To my demise I got around to running the vin and rpos.. a recaro it is not.. Apparently it came from the factory Light Camel Titanium primary with Light camel titanium secondary color. (anyone have a pic of this color), with bucket seats and the LG4 .. Oh well.. my lookalike still looks good and runs nice ..

Where did you run the codes? What resource did you use to decode them?

I don't know where some of these places get these intricate names for colors, but they're really rediculous... I'll see if I can dig out my firebird book that has paint chips and see what it says.

I can't find the book I'd need... the name for the paint code you listed sounds pretty... unrealistic. Unfortunately my Firebird book that has paint codes, paint chips, etc is unaccounted for... which means its probably in a box in my garage. Since I've moved my garage looks like the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And it doesn't make any sense either!!!

Camel is tan, titanium is grey...am I the only one who sees this color as being absolutely impossible???

I wonder what the 'special performance package' was? Could that be an L69?

Whoa! Hold on here! You got RPO codes for an '84??? This looks like the Bell & Howell catalog system used at most GM dealerships. I thought the VIN/RPO database was for 1990 and newer vehicles only! More details please!

Don't always trust internet RPO decoders. I ran the RPOs for my old Monte Carlo and it said the car was silver with a black interior and it was maroon and had a tan interior. I was the second owner and there was no way the previous one changed all that around.

The best place to start would be with documentation from 1984. RPO codes and paint codes change frequently. Gm's going to show the most recent definition. The rpo codes on this site appear to be circa 1991.

cool.. thanks for the info (btw, where did you find it?).. I have a few questions if you don't mind...

so was it monotone then?

65L - SECONDARY COLOR, EXTERIOR, DARK GOLD WING METALLIC
65U - PRIMARY COLOR, EXTERIOR, DARK GOLD WING METALLIC

I've never seen that before if it was, does someone have a pic of a gold/gold 84 TA..

---

What is the 87: 2 Door Plain Back Coupe Special all about ??

---

and what is the WY6 - SPECIAL PERFORMANCE PACKAGE ??

---

oh, one more thing.. the car now has a screw-on antenna.. how much work would it be to make it power again?

thanks again for all the info...
