sorry to jump in on this, but also what causes the driver side one to be all floppy and loose inside the mirror housing, and totally unresponsive to the power button pad on the door that supposed to control it ?

good luck !

If it's an electrically controlled mirror there are no cables in it. If it flops around, the jackscrews or pivot ***** are loose or broken.

Actually on most thirdgens the passengers mirror is a convex mirror, in other words its curved. It works on the same theory as the domed blind spot mirrors they sell in the tacky addons section at Kmart. The idea is that since its curved it gives a full view of a wider range to any angle. Meaning that its non-adjustable and shouldn't need to be adjusted.

I can scan the page of the owners manual that explains this if anyone has any doubts.

A little more info... Notice that the mirror says "objects in mirror are closer then they appear" Thats another side effect of the convex mirror.

If the mirror is bouncing around, you owe it to yourself to pull the door panel and check the mounting studs. On one of my 91's the mirror vibrated enough that I couldn't make out anythign behind me, it turned out that both nuts were loose, and one was only hanging on by about 2 threads. 5 minutes with a deep well 10mm socket and its fixed.

IROCZ28, stupid things, huh ?! well i have never owned a maro before and ive only had mine since monday so... im not used to nice fancy cars with electric mirrors and stuff, not even with carpet still intact
you may be soem rich dude who has owned these for alot longer than i have and therefore may know all about these camaro things b ut i dont and havent , so i have to learn some way or another, and asking is about the only way to find out ,....... !
Unless you didnt mean that comment like i assumed you did.... then disregard this

so i suppose i have to get a new power drivers side mirror since my gl;*** is flopping loose int he mirror housing, or can i get the parts inside the mirror alone ? how did it get broken ?

thanks for anything

Actually you can hit up your local Barnes and Nobles, or Borders, or Hastings or whatever large book dealer you have in your area, and pick up a copy of the Camaro White Book, The Illustrated Camaro Buyers Guide, Camaro (by Anthony Young), etc.. Those are just the Camaro history books I have next to the computer. Chiltons and Haynes manuals also can be a valuable resource. You can also go on ebay, or to Helm, or automobilia dealers and get a copy of your cars owners manual, shop manuals, 1984 Chevrolet dealer brochures, etc. And you can go to www.thirdgen.org and click on the tech data. After doing any 2 of those things you'll virtually be an expert on these cars, and it doesn't require asking a single question.

Not coming down on you, just providing alternate resources that everyone should look into, in addition to this board. Relying on information posted by others isn't a very safe way to go about owning a thirdgen. There are a lot of people that simply don't know what theyre talking about.
