Hot Wheels 1984 Firebird Trans Am new in 2020
Hey everyone,
Not sure if this has been shared on this board yet or not, but earlier this year we released the 1984 Pontiac Firebird (Trans Am) in Hot Wheels. It's a new casting, but technically not a new model, as it was a complete replacement for the aging 80's Firebird casting for the mainline. Like the '85 IROC and KITT, I worked on this one, too, and modeled it after my previous '84 T/A. This is why the first release is based on Spectra Red w/ W62 Aero package in black, and a charcoal gray interior. The casting itself is similar to the KITT, just reverted back to stock, ha ha.
Hope you like it!

That’s pretty cool.
I have a black & gold ‘84 and got one of these off eBay since I haven’t seen any in a local store yet. Hoping to paint it to match my car. How come the car couldn’t be molded without the large red edge on the t-top? Seems like it would look more accurate if the top “glass” just extended out farther without the red strip. I’m assuming that was needed to hold the glass plastic in place??

At the risk of hacking my own thread- as an owner of a black n gold '84 you should get yourself one of those old Nikko brand 1:10 scale radio control '84 T/A. They came in black n gold. I did locate 2 a few years back and painted one like my car, and a second for a friend and his T/A.
