what color is my carpet according to GM

I have a 90 RS. I want to order a carpet from ClassicIndustries for the passenger area but there are so many gray colors. My carpet is a light gray color, do you know what GM calls it.
All i see is medium dark gray, but im not sure if that is right.
THANKS for the help

Send them a sample of your carpet from under your rear seat. That is better than picking a color off a list anyway. Much more accurate.

There were only two gray carpet colors... Charcoal, and Medium Dark Gray... Charcoal was only used up till 1984 or so... the later cars are medium dark gray.

The only gray carpet the have listed for you is K28247 88-92 Med dk gray code 8247. None of the others go to your year. Send them a sample or order the only gray for your car

What brand does Classic sell? Auto Custom Carpet can be gotten in lots of shades, and is the only brand I've seen that I would put in my car. Send a sample anyway, batches can be way off, and they can match as close as possible. Been there, learned the hard way.

Someone mind telling me why a sample would help? Sounds like a lot of work when people have already done the research. ACC has been around awhile and sells a good product. Classic Industries probably has several sets in stock on the shelves, if a lot were bad they'd have heard complaints. I dont think ACC would let that go anyway. Besides that, do you think Classic is going to open a sealed box they received from ACC to verify the contents? Maybe I'm wrong but I'd imagine they'll look at the sample, say "yep, its medium dark gray" and grab a box off the medium dark gray pallet and stick an invoice and shipping label on it.

Have a little faith in the system, unless the catalog says "send us a sample" just order what matches with your car.

the catalog does say "send a sample" but im sure that is only for cases where there was a lot of similar colors for a certain range of years, im pretty confident now that my color is medium dark gray, and that is all Classics has for my year. I just wanted to make sure, cause it says in their description of the carpets that they have "most" of the original GM colors, just wanted to make sure that i dont have "light gray" and this is the color they dont list in the catalog. I have also did alittle research and found that gray was a very common color for 88-92 thirdgens, so i figure that since Classics only had medium dark gray, that must be right one. Could have just called them, but what fun is that, might as well make a reference for future carpet buyers
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP

Because on my '86 when I ordered replacement carpet from ACC, I ordered it according to the codes, and the color they sent was way, way off. It was ACC themselves who told me to send a sample, and they told me that they shipped the right color, but it was the just the batch that was off. I sent a sample, and they took it and matched it to a roll they had, then made me a carpet that matched perfectly. They were very nice about it, but I don't want to ever go through that again and would rather just make certain the first time.

I have to say I received my acc carpet from CI the other day. Great quality. It doesn't even come close to what is in there right now. and thats a good thing mmy carpet had bleach, pot, antifreeze, etc etc etc you name it it's had it. When matched up to my plastics and console it's a perfect match. My BROWN interior is coming to life! Now if Drew can get me rolling even more (thanks for the help)
