Yup, I've driven in the rain or have been caught in the rain... turns what would have been a basic quick detailer wipedown of any bugs and turns it into a full day car wash.

Rain is one thing, how about grass clippings?

Last time I went to TGF, Denny had just mowed his lawn and it was covered in thick grass clipping. I had my '83, which was the oldest car there and the only one with a clutch fan. As I went to park, my fan sucked in a massive amount of grass clippings. Those who saw it, told me it looked amazing, the way all that grass was being sucked under the car. It took me months to get all that grass out of the induction, HVAC and all the nooks and crannies. I'd think I had it all, and the next time I looked I'd see another clump of grass hiding somewhere.

That sucked! Literally!

Re: 1989 IROC 344 original miles

I have had the grass issue, and one thing you might consider is using an air compressor. I bought a 3-4 foot long air gun from Harbor freight that works great for getting some of that stuff out. The nice thing is you can get down into the radiators and blow backwards to get some of that out...

Unfortunately HF no longer sells the long tube air gun gem, so I take really good care of it. But it really comes in handy... COuld probably make one easily enough.

Combination of compressor and leaf blower were effective. The issue is, just when you thought you got it all, you'd find more, over and over again.

I can see that... You need a lift, put it up in the air and see if you can spot more...

Some of the best inventions I have ever purchased:
1) Car lift
2) A dump trailer for my tractor
3) Sliced bread.

1 is especially necessary after you puke after lying on the ground trying to change the air springs on your wife's car.

That sounds miserable! I'm not a fan of putting my cars on grass for shows.

Charlie likes to park on the grass usually. Helps cover up the clay bar residue and cuts down on the suspicious reflections...

When I popped the hood and my engine compartment looked like a hay field, I had two thoughts:

1) I sure wasted 2 hours sprucing up my engine compartment the day before.

2) I'm glad this was my '83 "beater" and not my '89.

Sorry I missed this excitement.

Interesting fact, I took this photo from inside my 92 during the Iowa State Fair Parade in 2017.

No, I stopped going when I figured out how much that show makes and how little of that money is used to benefit the community or cruise patrons. Enjoy the cruise, it's free but spend your money somewhere else when you get there.

This was a pretty impressive "reputation suicide" thread. Feel bad for OP at this point, but he kinda doubled down on the stupid.

I actually feel the same. This thread could have ended 20 pages earlier with a simple, "Hmm, never even noticed that".

Unfortunately he just started ranting and raving about this and that, excuses, Barret-Jackson Lawyers etc ... It could have been put to bed pretty easily, BUT it appears pride got in the way and really clouded some judgement. I appreciate the fact that indeed the results will be increased prices for 3rd gen Camaros, it is sad that it had to happen this way...

Not this again. I thought we proved that the image was altered, or a reflection. If you can polish a turd to the point of seeing a reflection, a fully polished car, including rubber, can reflect color!

Man I'm a few years too late. What an entertaining thread. So many hilarious moments. I think my favorite however is when in a short period the OP went on a weird rant about a bar fight. One in which he beat up two guys. The picture he posted of himself immediately made me think the only thing he's ever fought was a cold. What a dork

For this usually calm, civil website, it was an epic meltdown.

OP was either just a run-of-the-mill moron or else a world-class internet troll.

I think the OP is very knowledgeable on Thirdgen Camaros, but he got caught up in Denial and didn’t know how to back down.

Considering how he tried to convince us he was doing all us a huge favor with the car he auctioned and had ties in the car community. Then threatens us the opposite.

I like how he was recently at the huge 3rd gen show. I don't know what it was called but essentially every "famous" 3rd gen was there. And there he was smiling and carrying on in front of the camera (look at me!) He found his way back into the 3rd gen community as of we ever needed the goofball

Not every famous Thirdgen was there. I turned them down because I’m not a car show person.

I think you are correct Scott. The RSs had no graphics and the DX3 code made sure no one put IROC stickers on Sandy the receptionists V6 Camaro.

EDIT: yes, I went through this crazy *** thread last night, after someone posted the link on FB.

There is no bear here.

I also agree with Scott's explanation of the listed 88,000 DX3 cars, when we know the number was 1,500 or less.

This is worth bringing back to the top simply because it is HILARIOUS.

(It's even funnier if you reread the whole thread, but that is another 2+ hours of your time)

I re-read it about every year or so when someone posts the link on FB. It just sucks you in once you start. Actually, reading the first few normal pages is what sets you up for the entertainment on the last 20. That Downfall video is hilarious, though.

Here it is, on eBay. Honestly, regardless of it's notoriety, I think this is a good price.

Arguably one of the most famous cars here on thirdgen.org
Do I see some claybar residue in those pics? 😂

I think this car would get better money if it were presented with better pics.

As a hobbyist photographer, and professional graphic artist, AND a car guy who buys and sells, I agree completely. TERRIBLE pictures. It kills me that people will try to sell a car of this value, sometimes with nothing more than a few phone pics with the car not even fully pictured. I've always said if you can't afford the time and effort to take good pictures to help you SELL and make money, how can I possibly believe you put the effort into properly maintaining your car? I've been looking at 67-72 trucks, and I found one the other day for about $8000, and it was as good and as bad as you'd expect for that price. The guy took amazing pictures though, and I was pretty close to taking a drive to see the truck. Truck sold though, so we'll keep looking, but the pictures really made it stand out. I dunno. I don't understand.

$40k is just a few bucks more than what it sold for years ago. If it were my car, I’d present it better and ask A LOT more for it

Are you implying there are limits besides the obvious financial and space constraints most of us are bound by?

LOL! Luckily I've had my 3rd gens for years, (mostly), so I'm not a buyer at these prices. But......I'd rather have this one for 40K than the 4 mile , (now 10), for over a 100K.
