Re: 1989 IROC 344 original miles
Like dagwood said, I'd bet most of it's paint is original. I wouldn't be surprised if it were damaged in shipping or something and the dealer did a repair before selling it to the original owner. Still a cool car, in my book. But I hear you. I ordered a 1988 Corvette in 1988. It was damaged in shipping. The dealer promised they could make it perfect so I gave them a chance. They did a crappy job and so I didn't want it anymore had them give me my deposit back.

I still wanna know what Barrett-Jackson could possibly find out of line with this thread? With due respect to ALL parties, no one has done anything legally wrong. If someone altered any photos with the intent of misrepresenting the car, then that individual may have problems, but discussing certainly isn't a crime of any kind.

Gentlemen I will be here as long as it takes. And when we are done I will bet you will think twice before you falsely accuse someone ever again.

Yes! That would have told a better story on how the car was stored.. I mean what if it sat outside under a cover for a few years or something? Who knows? Like the 3000 mile IROC I saw in person that was all orange underneath because the owner’s wife put it outside, uncovered for years after he passed away..

Re: 1989 IROC 344 original miles
I would honestly expect to find some kind of paint work or touch up work on most of them out there. They're old cars. If I were buying that particular car, I dont really feel that would have hurt the value all that much, honestly. And the overspray issues are a pretty simple fix. I'd be buying it because it has 344 miles on the odometer. 344 miles worth of drivetrain wear, interior wear, etc. Its a still a new car. Sure, I'd rather have one with no touch up work done, but finding a 344 mile car is where the challenge lies, and the incentive is. It brought good money, and the seller should be more than pleased with the outcome. I'm not going to say that it brought more than it was worth. It's still a very desirable car, and I'm sure it's still impressive as hell to see in person.
But if I were going to buy a super low mile car, I would look for a 5k mile car that I could drive every now and then and enjoy, for a lot less money. I wouldn't want to drive the 344 mile car.
Just my $.02

I also would prefer not to have the decal delete on a car like that.
I also wonder if someone had the car properly repainted by a meticulous restoration shop if that would increase the value if the original paint is lackluster and has evidence of touch ups.

I sold a perfect paint car at Barrett-Jackson and we have nearly every post since mid page 5 accusing me and Barrett-Jackson of misrepresenting the sale.
just in case you are just joining us here this is Scott Moyer’s thread to moderate.

Re: 1989 IROC 344 original miles
Well this pic doesn't help it any. I dont know how I missed this pic before. There should NOT be an open seam here. This is a super tiny spot on the actual car. It's probably barely 1/2" wide. It's where the rear quarter sail panel meets the roof skin. Right at the top, rear corner of the drivers side window. I've owned 30-40 third gens. I used to flip them ALL THE TIME. This is a known cracking spot on hard tops.....but I have NEVER seen this. That is a perfect cut. You could literally walk right up to the car and not even see this. It's right under the drip rail with the paint overspray on it....
It should look like this. Heres the same spot on my car....

You are right, I did my GTA and found that it was stolen in 89 and recoverd in 91. Don't cost me nothing to do it so we will see what it produces.

Its definitely worth a shot! I'm just saying if it doesn't produce anything, it really means nothing. But if it does.......well that's a different story.

Re: 1989 IROC 344 original miles
Like I said, a clean carfax really doesn't mean a thing. I have another example. The car in this pic was MY 2000 Z28 that my ex wife totaled in 2001. I bought the car back from the insurance company for a whopping $600. I bought it back for the LS1 and 6 speed. The car was only 10 months old. So, in about 2004, I ran a carfax on it just for fun. It came back CLEAN. I had the title in hand, and since I bought it back from the insurance company, the title never changed hands. 100% clear and clean. The carfax at that time even said that the car qualified for the "carfax $10,000 buyback guarantee" lol

Yes.....believe it or not she walked about a half mile to a farm place to wake them up and use their phone. (Happened around 1:00 am) She didnt break a single bone, and didnt even require any stitches. She was banged up REALLY, REALLY bad, though. And today, is currently scheduled for neck surgery as a result from this crash all those years ago. Shes the mother of my daughters.

This thread will set records for replies, if it hasn't already with 938? It will also set the record for views before this matter is resolved since it seems to have 38,290 at this point. It has really stirred up a lot of INTEREST if nothing else ever comes of this! All I can say is "very interesting, but stupid" or "stupid, but very interesting" I'll stay tuned in for the long run.

Are you ok?

EDIT:
I've asked you a few times for proper pics.
Where are these pics that you claim you have AT BJ with the proof?

Ok boys,
who wants to to take my challenge?
i have a two man production crew ready to fly to see the car and film it.
the person who takes the challenge gets two paid airline tickets to the location of the car.
i will bring my independent verifier.
The photos and the areas as indicated are the areas in dispute
SO:
if the car is not exactly as it was represented I will pay you $50,000 USD wired directly to your bank account.
however if the car is as represented you will pay all expenses of all parties and you will wire $50,000 USD to the American Cancer society.
Well?? How about it you key board warriors?
chazman?
Scott Moyer?
put up or shut up.
who is it going to be?

I am fine. The question remains how is the forum going to manage its position with respect to the investigation that Barrett-Jackson has now started.
talk is cheap right now.

You know Phil, sometimes people ask questions and get unexpected answers to them, ones they hadn't anticipated or wanted.
I don't expect you play poker and if you do, I don't see you as being very good at it - you have more tells than a library. I will point out that Scott's tone changed in the last 24 hours or so, you may or may not have noticed that. To me, and I don't think I'm letting anything out of the bag here, that would tell me he has something, something you may not want everyone to see, and because of the poker player HE is, isn't showing his hand.
The smartest people I have ever known said the least.

Re: 1989 IROC 344 original miles
Phil, if you provide pictures that are of the car at West World, exactly as you describe it, that are clear enough to determine that no paint work was done, I will say that it's about time. We've been asking for it since somewhere around post 258, so almost 700 posts later, you're finally offering them up? I'm not sure why you wanted to destroy your reputation over this if you had the photos the entire time.
How will we know they are at West World. I mean, the date and time stamp can be photoshopped, remember? Will we need to use the reflections in the car, because they are close up shots, to determine 2x4 drop ceiling or tent supports? Or maybe the security sign reflection in the A pillar, which can all be photoshopped? How will we know the photos weren't doctored, because, well, you know, photoshop?
If you produce evidence that the car is perfect and no paint work, and the pictures can be proven to be before the auction, I will congratulate you on wasting all of our time for days. How's that? Is there something more you're expecting?

You still don't seem to understand that the origins of the pictures posted in question. And that we're simply discussing pictures available on the Internet.
I'm not Scott but I'll provide my own answer to your question. I will send you a self-help book because all of this is due to your really poor handling of a rather simple discussion over pictures.

Not much has changed the moderators are standing idle letting the board run wild with all kinds of stuff here
my position has not changed one iota
so how much money has this spectacle made for the owner of the forum?
