Re: Freedom Battery Topper

I need 2, for an 88 and an 89. Which of the black ones would be closest to what these cars would have came with? The black freedom 2 or the black 296?

And do they still come with the brochures?

Dagwood, I’m not up on what came in the later cars, , it’s been so hard to get correct info for the blue toppers, let alone the black, you gotta do some detective work, start with your build sheet.

Nice. The hard part now is finding a white case battery. Seems like Interstate stopped making white batteries.

yes. I was saying that all along, if you wanted a white case get one. But you can paint it either white or off white.

the above pic, the yellow decal isn’t stuck, it’s still on the paper, that’s why it looks that way.

Before I purchase, can the caution sticker be placed directly over the Delco sticker? Thanks.

Re: Freedom Battery Topper

You can place all 3 decals if you like, their is a slight imperfection from where the plastic enters the mold. The decal in the pic has it covered. I’m looking at one, I think you can have it over another inch. Also moving it left, your getting closer to the — mark molded in the topper.
you have to keep in mind, these are to mimic a battery, they are not an actual battery.
your in Mi it looks like, I can meet you for a coffee, you can save the shipping, you can check one out in person.

Oh if I can place the stickers myself, then that would be great! Depending on where at in Michigan you are. In in Metro Detroit.

Re: Freedom Battery Topper

I got my battery toppers in the mail today. Thanks BURD!

So, for anyone that is thinking about buying one of these, they are really cool, and I modify them just a little to fit the smaller battery. I trim off the lip on the entire left side of the topper, and I make sure my battery is as far to the right as possible. Then I can get the topper mounted as far left as possible to eliminate any overhang. The overhang is actually next to the inside of the fender. Looking at it, while installed this way, the overhang is literally not noticable. So far I have bought 3 of these from BURD and I really like them.

Re: Freedom Battery Topper

Thanks Dagwood,

I will use your tips to install my topper like you did when mine arrives. I also have a 75 series battery, so if the over hang is on the passenger side of the battery, then its not as noticeable. And hey, if I have a hard time noticing it, the public won't notice it! Haha

Next battery, will a 78 series fit? My 78 came with a smaller battery, I put a 78 series in, it fits, you can’t tell.

Dagwood, how do these actually attach to the battery itself? I purchased one of these and am curious how it attaches when I receive it. Thanks!

Re: Freedom Battery Topper

Some cars have a top hold down, some a bottom one, some top hold downs need to be modified a tad, getting a repop or one from a salvage yard would be the one to modify, but just 4 Velcro dots is all it takes to hold them on cars with no top hold down.

Re: Freedom Battery Topper

We have a few black toppers with a small blem in the paint, so these will be offered as a 50$ plus 15 ship. You will never get one for this cheap again. Once installed, you’ll never notice. Very small, yet not perfect, so you get the deal. This is just on a few black toppers, blue are not included in this special.
$15 ship is CONUS only.

my guess is you have the next generation of freedom battery, but let’s see, which is the battery code there?

Re: Freedom Battery Topper

I’d be willing to do these decals and a decal for the eye. You’d buy a flat top black battery and peel off the stock decals and apply these 2. I need sizes for both. Does anyone have a decal I can scan?
also I need what numbers we need on these decals
731 &635? What years did they go from ?
