1986 Iroc Z28/350??
Can anyone tell me if in fact there were ever any '86' Iroc Z28 camero made with a 350cid ?? Wikipedia claims they are just a rumor and none of the 50 examples were ever actually made. If they are real what is the identifier??

This is a common ThirdGen topic.
Start with the following Sticky:

I'd also read the following from Willie, who has been involved with ThirdGen history for a long time:

One would need a long paper trail to GM for a 1986 with a 350 to be able to make a claim of having or knowing of one.

Unequivocally, they don't exist. Period.
GM certainly had test cars, and informed the auto press that the L98 was coming, but those cars weren't actual production, street legal cars that ever ended up in public hands, and the 350 didn't actually become available until the 1987 model year.

The read above about aluminum heads is interesting. Years ago I had a 1987 Corvette convertible with aluminum heads. Iirc, At the time those heads were only on the 86 & 87 convertibles. Never knew why, maybe weight, maybe to improve fuel mileage on a heavier car. By the time the internet had all this information the car was long gone & I didn't care anymore.

Guessing it came from a convertible? The thing really ripped compared to other vettes at the time. The heads where not supposed to add much HP, so maybe my car had slightly taller gears in it. I never checked. but I do believe the HP was a little more than chev advertised. This was around 1994. I bought the car wrecked & rebuilt it.

Aluminum heads were used in all 1986 Corvette Convertibles; only the late production '86 Coupes got them due to supply problems resulting from cracks around the attachment bosses in early production heads. All Corvettes from 1987-up have aluminum heads.

Re: 1986 Iroc Z28/350??
Like mentioned before, the rumored 50 IROC-Z 350s and the Trans Am 350's in 1986 were all test vehicles, None of which ever made it into production. There was an intention to release the IROC-Z with the 350 in 1986, but it never came to fruition, The 1986 cars were supposed to be without AC and/or T-tops.
Where there is confusion there was an article (attached) that has one of the media cars with the 350 in it.. AND attached is an actual order and cancellation I found of an 86 L98 Camaro...

"Camero" is how you say it when you have an accent.
