My '88 GTA came with ANCO blades from the factory. I replaced them just this year.

Re: Factory Original Wiper Blades 1987 Camaro
Are you interested in everything, including the original rubber, or just all of the original metal components?
My Formula still has all of its original metal components. Whenever I needed new blades, I simply opted for rubber refills and slipped them into the original metal components.

Sorry it took me a while, was able to move all the cars around today and get it off the lift. Here are some pics. I was told by the orig owner that these were original. If you need other pics, please let me know. My car is an 87 Norwood car.
Thanks, Erik

Erik...Thanks!
I think the current AC Delco blades might be factory correct?
Opinions?

AT one time did these not have replaceable blades?
I know everything has gone to the "replacement assembly" I just wonder where to get the blades themselves.

Re: Factory Original Wiper Blades 1987 Camaro
I don't recall that they did, just because I vaguely remember the arms having a bent over portion that held the squeegee in place. I cut the bent over portion off and used the refills that have the little squeeze clip to retain the refill.
Years later, after not being able to find refills with the squeeze clip, I just replaced the entire blade. That's when I discovered the limited clearance with the back edge of the hood.
I could be mistaken because we're talking almost 30 years ago and my memory is pretty poor due to age.
After seeing the photos that Erik posted and browsing a few catalogs, I "think" that a Trico 18-2 blade is close to an identical or close match to the OEM blade (two arms, spring loaded at the pin)....if the photos I've seen are the actual blade and not just a representation (which most are).
Rock Auto has them on close out for $1.28 each. Ridiculous, yes so I placed an order for more than a few. I'll let you guys know what they look like on Thursday.

I know Scott Moyer has been really quite particular to his 87, I wonder if he still has his original blade assemblies.

Re: Factory Original Wiper Blades 1987 Camaro
Aside from replacing the rubber inserts, I kept the stock wipers on most of my thirdgens. I'm sure I have at least a few sets of the metal. Used to be a person could find Anco refills for next to nothing in all the Kmart/Walmart type places, along with the auto parts stores. When the replacement assemblies got so cheap, the refills disappeared.
Truth told, if you ever have to use the wipers, modern blades are better since they generally support more of the rubber. The OE 4 point support usually leaves gaps and streaks unless the rubber is virtually new and the windshield is spotlessly clean.

I still have the original arms. I only replaced the rubber on mine. They have only been done once or twice in their lifetime, but the arm and blade is still original on mine and the rubber is all that's new. I'll try to get some pics later.

How long are those refills?
I like the trico 18-2 replacements, they are veeery close to the same look. The center spring pin cover area is a bit different than what I'm seeing on the 87s here.

Many thanks to everybody that participated here! This is great detail on a good topic for what is really original.
It looks as though I need to be looking to locate some original factory OEM metal frames and re blade them.

There were a few blades

Yes... I noticed that. I wonder if I order will I be getting 22110158 or as replaced By 10283455?
I think 10283455 is the current part. A set of used blades may be the way to go??

Thanks! I do not need arms just factory correct blade assemblies and refills.
Can anyone tell me if the Anco's were GM supplied from the factory?
From the EBay auction link they look polished and no star pattern on the spring clip attachment point.

Ancos are mentioned in the IPC, but Trico and Delco are the only brands of the blade assemblies mentioned.

The first obvious difference is the beam length. The Trico beams are full length of the squeegee. The OEM blade beams stop short of the squeegee ends (compare with photos of originals posted elsewhere):
Close-up of the pin retainer area:
Blade beam end:
You can see the difference in how much lower the Trico blade sits than typical six-point contact replacement blades.
Another detail to ponder; are the OEM squeegees date and time stamped like these replacements?:

The blades arrived from Rock Lobster. They're private label, meaning they're boxed for a specific retailer. In this case, NAPA.

The blades you have on the arms in this picture are incorrect for the car and that's why you are having issues. Those are 18-1 hook/clip style and not 18-2 pin style.

There are no issues with clearance. They clear the edge of the hood.

The original squeegee, more than likely did not have a laser date stamp, that is put on by laser marking technology and that technology was not available in 1987...

Re: Factory Original Wiper Blades 1987 Camaro
It's been so long since those were installed (+10 years?) I have no idea what brand or P/N they are. The book said 18" blades so that's what I put on. I haven't really thought much about keeping it looking original as long as they do what they're designed to do.
There are no issues with clearance. They clear the edge of the hood.

Here is a pic of the hook type and how they work. (almost need a special degree to figure out all the different types!)

Re: Factory Original Wiper Blades 1987 Camaro
I've replaced the blades once or twice and I've actually taken the rubber from the new blades and transferred it over to the original arms. I re-thread the new rubber into the metal black trim piece and reinsert that into the factory blade assembly. So the only part replaced on mine is the rubber!

I was told the other day that stores can still get the inserts (squeegee only) but you have to special order them. I didn't try, but I would be interested to know if anyone has done this.

Look at this picture: the wiper in the pakkage, 18-2, looks very different from the wiper in front...??

And the wiper in front is what I need.
Pictures on the Rockauto site adds to the confusing as well...

Looks like the arm in front of the package came from the package. (package is labeled correctly as a 18-2)
A lot of times there is a generic picture that's used on packaging instead of the actual product.

Look closer at the wiper in the 18-2 pakkage, it is a hook style one for sure...!!
It's not the same like the one in front..
Btw, I cancelled my Rockauto order for the 18-1, I can't afford $22 shipping costs for the wrong wipers..

The 18-1 will fit; the plastic thing for the hook style arm just flips around to lock the blade to the pin style arm. However, there might be potential hood clearance issues with the -1's.
I've used -1,s in the past (see the photos I've posted) without issue. The -2's definitely look better.

Thanks.
I figured out that both will fit indeed, but the 18-2 looks much better.
I cancelled my order for the 18-1, and waiting for Rockauto to return my Paypal money, after that, I will order a pair of TRICO 18-2.
