Not sure if we've seen this particular one before. Exterior paint could use a good detailing.

I'd "roc" it for sure. Dig the yellow.
It would be nice if everyone with a camaro would aline their bumpers and hoods properly like this one. I see waaaay to many that look horrible, esp the guys with aftermarket glass hoods that don't trim them down.

Every time I see a third gen it makes me miss the days when they were everywhere on the streets. I remember seeing the common ones and the rarer ones like a yellow Iroc or Formula, or a silver Iroc etc. Love these cars.. I truly miss those days. We need to restore as many as possible and only part out what is really necessary.

Is that the correct shift ****? Also the door arm rest look a light grey color, never seen that shade before. The kickpanels are carpeted, but not the cargo area plastics.Thought that was a package deal.
Radiator support may have been repainted, as the hood adjustment bumpers are yellow as well.I'd still buy it though!

Damn those interiors were stunning when new!
Hard to believe those bumper covers came from the same MFG pre finished. I'd be willing to bet there's an extra coat on one of them.

Hmmm. So I keep hearing that NO thirdgen, except for the extremely rare ones, are worth over $20k. Here's another example, not even a perfect example, that has bids up to $25k. I'd like to see where this one closes.

Re: 1800 mile, 5.7, yellow, IROC-Z.....
The shift **** is correct, it changed to this style in 87 till continuation of the third gen in 92. The arm rest color also changed for 87, so that's correct. Kick panels were carpeted regardless of the rear plastics being carpeted or not. The top inside panel is cracked for sure, and I was thinking the same thing too chazman, the emblem does look a little too far to the right. The rear bumper also has a discoloration from the body color. Still, a low mile original IROC I would be super proud to own!!!
This particular car haunts me as I have tried to buy it now multiple times and each time I have lost out... It was the first car that I tried to buy when searching for a low mile car years back and I bought my white 87 instead... it has had two more owners than listed in the ad. After it was in AZ, it was part of Matt Garretts collection in TX (confirmed vin)... then it went to CA and was owned by the owner of Fisher Imports... I tried to buy it when it was at Buds Chevy, then from the guy in AZ, asked Matt Garrett, and then I made a serious offer recently when it was in CA... no dice each time, and I have made put some serious money on the table each time it gets away... one of these days it will be mine Gorgeous car!

What does the red sticker on the alternator say? I assume it is not a reman sticker? You fellas know your stuff, schooling us on the automatic shift *****. I appreciate it, great info out of this thread. I think that is one of the best colors on a 3rdgen.

I agree with you guys that the gear **** is incorrect, the placement of the rear emblem is incorrect and the door pulls should be a different color. Not sure why it's light grey on a dark grey/black interior.

Pretty sure that in 1987, the Grey custom cloth interior got the grey door pulls/arm rests and the Black (or very dark grey) got them as well.

The rear bumper has been repainted... With the correct color but the wrong hue.
When I repainted my car I learned that there were actually 2 Yellow-Gold mixes. The paint mixer asked me, is it more green or orange? Both colors are technically correct, but the rear bumper was repainted with the wrong hue. GM is notorious for this, I actually think there may have been a difference between Van Nuys and Norwood, as they used different paints. But I have never delved that deep into it.
Shame really, as it looks like a nice car otherwise, just someone did not know what they were doing when they repaired it... Probably a dealer job.
Bumpers tend to be a different color than the rest of the car, it has to do with the fact that they are not painted at the same time. I believe they were painted in a completely different booth with different paint. However they are usually a lot closer than what is shown theere... I would have to repaint that bumper, it would drive me out of my mind to own a car that nice and have that sore thumb.

I see brand new cars that look just like that. (bumper mis match). The ones on my JY 92 are waaaaay off. The car and bumpers are faded original paint.
I think sometimes the pictures make it standout more that in person.

That May Be So,But This One's Obviously Been Repainted Do To The Fact That The 5.7 Emblem Has Been Replaced Incorrectly.

Maybe the emblem was installed incorrectly from day 1???
I've seen new cars with missing emblems on 1 side stuff no where close to where it should be.
(Sure it could have been painted, I'm having a slow day)

Bumpers were delivered to the assembly plant already finished in the final colors from the supplier.
These cars were built by men (and women) who would sometimes go to the bar down the street for lunch and have a drink or two.....subsequently errors do occur.

Im probably gonna get a lot of surprise out of the thirdgen community for this but I've never seen those seats before, they are amazing. If I had a Camaro instead of a Trans Am I would be online day and night trying to find a set

I'm with you on this being my favorite interior pattern. I may be wrong but it was available '87 only IIRC.

My front bumper cover is the same color as the car. What you see in the above picture is because of dark bands from the paint gun. The dark bands follow a distinct pattern of the paint gun as the car moved thru the assembly line. Unfortunately for me, the dark band was right at the leading edge of the front fender when the bumper cover was attached. And it's only on the driver's side. You normally can't see them except in specific lighting and enhanced with a camera filter.

I will contend that it appears that there is a high likelihood that the rear bumper has been repainted. If both front and rear bumpers were the same (like Scott's Car) that would indicate that they came that way. If you look at Scott's car, Not only are the bumpers a lighter color, so are the ground effects, spoiler and gas door.
This picture it does not show the bumper differential like his picture does. (sorry it is a scanned picture of his car) My Scanner is dirty (on the inside) I have to clean it every few months...

Like I said, John, my car shows the color shift difference more on the driver's side than the passenger side. And only in certain lighting conditions.
Here's another passenger side shot.
Here's the driver's side in a different light. You can't see the color difference like in the photo a few posts above.

Beautiful car! Someday I'll buy a yellow one for the wife The story I got back in the day from the dealer was the reason the bumpers didn't match on almost every new camaro was because the body was baked after final paint. Bumpers were installed afterwards.

The front and rear Fascia's were shipped already painted from Ramir Plant in Mexico and installed in hard trim.
The paint was usually very close or they were rejected prior to making it to the car.
Paint in plant was electrostatic technology so the metal portions of the body had the best paint build potential.
