1985 Trans Am Vacuum Tank Location
During a salvage and pillage trip to my local yard, I found an '85 T/A. Now, I didn't think it was an '85 right away because of one small thing that I had never seen on that year. What I saw was a firewall mounted vacuum tank. My car, being the same year, has the vacuum tank mounted in the driver side fender, and is the shape of a softball. This one was the size and shape of a salami and mounted just above the brake booster. I had only seen that on 1984 and older Firebirds. When I checked the VIN, it was definitely an '85 model but built in Norwood. My car is a Van Nuys build. Perhaps that is the difference? Just wanted to share this and get the forums feedback.

This was discussed once before. A member outlined what they believed was the difference:

Hey, Thanks for that reply. That makes sense that if the car didn't come with Cruise Control it wouldn't have the spherical tank. That's what I love about this board; I'm always learning something new about our cars!
