G92 and G80 were available in 1987-1989 on the IROC-Z vert. They weren't available in 1990 on the vert.

IIRC in 1987 the only way to get a 5 speed in a vert was with the TPI, and you automatically got the G92 axle. If you wanted an auto you got the LG4 with the 2.73..
Not sure about 1988.. I know the later years 90+ for sure there was no Performance gear on any convertible

You did not automatically get the G92 when you ordered the LB9 & 5spd - you had to order it that way. Also in 1987 the 5spd was the standard transmission with the LG4 5.0 TBI but was not available on the LT model only. The only engine not available with the 5spd was the L98 5.7.

1 - LG4/A4 - 2.73 gear
2 - LB9/M5 - 3.42 or 3.45 gear (not sure which)
I would be interested with a Convertible SPID that shows differently for 1987
This was not in regards to coupes or T-top cars, it was for Camaro Convertibles only.

2:73 was the standard gear ratio, 3:23 was optional.
For the LB9/M5, 3:08 was the standard gear ratio with 3:45 the G92 performance gear ratio.
And just so we don't have to go around again with 1988 models - the engine combo's and gear ratios were the same.

I've got the dealership parts manual, the factory service manual & the dealer brochure that I got when I bought my T-top new. Care to show me where G92 gears came stock on the convertible? Otherwise refer back to my previous post for the engine/trans/gear combos!

I still contend that there was no Z08 1987 LB9/A4 Convertibles.
This WAS 1987 ONLY... Found the information I was looking for:
According to the 1987 Camaro "Specifications" on page 57, you could order a Camaro Convertible with:
The Z28 & IROC
LB9 & MM5
OR
LG4 & MX0 (A4)
The LT & SC were only available with the LG4 & MX0 (A4)
There was NO - ZERO - NADA - NONE Z08 V6 Camaros OR LB9/A4 OR L98/A4 Convertibles in 1987
I will contend that All 1987 IROC-Z's with the LB9/M5 got the 3.45 gear... The Z28 got the 3.08 Gear (with the LB9/M5)... All LG4 cars got the 2.73 Gear.

Camaro Base convertibles & Camaro LT convertibles were not available with the LB9 or L98 engine at all.
The Z28 & IROC-Z Convertibles were available with the LG4 & LB9 engines with BOTH the M5 & A4 transmissions.
BTW - the picture below shows optional gear ratios too.

Re: 1988 iroc z 5 speed convertible g92,j65
Just to clarify, the 1987 convertible, in Z28 and IROC-Z form, came standard with the manual trans when ordered with the LB9. You could then also upgrade the rear axle to G92. Also, since you want to be so adamant about your responses, you should also check your facts on what you say is the 3rd flavor. You could not get the automatic trans with the LB9 on the vert in 1987. If you wanted the auto, you got an LG4. I have a spreadsheet of plenty of '87 convertibles and not a single one was LB9/auto. If you look at the page you posted, it clearly states next to the LB9 option that you had to get MM5. Also, when you look at the MX0 transmission option, it will tell you that it's N/A with LB9. You have been saying again and again that the LB9 was available in auto and YOU ARE WRONG.
So, can we stop with all the pissing and moaning and if there is a correction to be made, please make it in a decent manner? Thanks

Re: 1988 iroc z 5 speed convertible g92,j65
Lets get back on track. Does anybody have a 1988 IROC with the LB9/T-5/G92 rear? I think it would be cool to see one. I've never seen kind of optioned IROC before. Really would be interested to see this kind of car with the DX3 stripe delete option too.
Would be nice to rip through those gears with the top down and hear the tires chirp between shifts and the exhaust bark!

Scott, G92 was not available on a convertible IROC-Z in 1989. I tried to order one. If you wanted a 5 speed/LB9, you could only get it with a 3.08 gear. No dual cats either.

Charlie, you're right. Not sure what I was looking at when I said '89 verts could get G92. I went back and looked at my original documentation that I used to make that statement and I couldn't find it anywhere so I must've been looking at the wrong page when I said that. I think I was looking at the power teams chart on the same page as the wheel options. Not sure. Thanks.

Re: 1988 iroc z 5 speed convertible g92,j65
Where do you see that I said G92 was standard. I never said that. The only time I said anything was standard was referring to the LB9 came standard with the manual and the auto was an extra charge. The extra charge is for the LG4 only, not the LB9. This was in response to the argument that the LB9 was only available in auto on the verts in '87, which is incorrect. Just to prove that they are out there, Willie, a moderator from years past, has a 1987 Z28 convertible with the LB9 and a 5 speed. This isn't news to me that I'm now back tracking on an earlier statement.
Just to clarify, the 1987 convertible, in Z28 and IROC-Z form, came standard with the manual trans when ordered with the LB9. You could then also upgrade the rear axle to G92. Here - where you parroted the gears John had posted when he incorrectly posted that G92 was included automatically when you bought the convertible. You also said in this post that the LB9 was available with the automatic trans for an extra charge but now you're saying it's not - where exactly do you stand on this?
With the 1987 CAMARO convertible, there was 2 flavors.

I wasn't familiar with the "Special Editions" so may have to concede this point on a technicality.
So apparently of the 744 convertibles in 1987 with the digit 3 in the 6th position there were no LB9/A4 built*, however out of the 1007 total convertibles built in 1987 with either a 2 or a 3 in the 6th position, there were.
* Hope somebody has a Salesman bulletins notebook with the announcements who can confirm or deny this point.

Yes, you are wrong! The special edition cars were still produced by ASC, but they were not factory cars. The 1007 does not include these aftermarket convertibles. It includes the 263 LT convertibles and the 744 Z28 convertibles. The special edition dash plate number was specific to the aftermarket build only.
I parroted nothing. You need to read closer and learn. My post says the LB9 was available with manual and auto because John mentioned the Coupe and TTOP cars. I never went into the specifics of coupe or convertible. Read what I posted and it is correct! The LB9 was available on the Z28 and the IROC-Z in manual as standard and auto for an extra charge. This was to note that the LB9/auto combination was available. The vert was not available with the LB9/auto combo, though. So in response to your post #27, stop posting things as fact when you don't know!
