The more factory original, the better. Low miles don't hurt either.

As far as chosing Kymmee's car as the first one, the fact that it's a base car was a plus. I can think of a dozen super low mile, original IROCs and GTAs on this site, but when was the last time you saw a V6?

Re: Benchmark Car #1

What stands out to me is that it's a base car with no A/C yet it has the premium Viscount interior. Does it have the rally gauges or dummy lights?

Nice car. Glad someone is keeping it around because so few such examples remain. I don't even see many S/Es any more. It's a cool contrast to all the surviving '82 T/As. And there do not seem to be a lot of those out there either compared to other 3rd gen years.

Great choice for a first example.

Thanks guys for keeping this thread alive. I can't believe it is still receiving so many compliments after more than a month!

It does have the rally gauges, and deluxe interior, but other than that is a very bare bones base model. I dont know if the original owner ordered it that way, or it was just on the car lot and he bought it. If I see him in the near future, I will try and remember to ask.

As for some of the discussion of replacement parts, we really did not do a whole lot to it, other than fluids changes, battery, tires of course, and I think new plugs. The carb was rebuilt because when we bought it, the rpm's ar idle were real high and it would stall when turned to a normal rpm at idle. Almost all the the hoses are still original, as well as the belt. We also replaced the choke pull off just recently.
