90 TA 1LE 1 of 4
I saw this for sale on Craig's list (not mine). I'm confused by the T Tops - I thought they weren't available with 1LE.

Re: 90 TA 1LE 1 of 4
I talked to the seller and will look at the car tomorrow. It's a day trip for me but worth a look. It's a project with high mileage and most of the usual stuff doesn't work. No history or records with the car so there will be a lot of verification work.
I'm not sure how to value the car. The price may be a little high considering all the work it needs as it is a project. Depends on rust/accident history. I'll know more tomorrow and take some pics.

So I had a pretty good look at this car and took a bunch of pictures including the RPO codes. Looks like it is legit including the T Tops (could be a Canadian only thing?).
I couldn't verify that it was the original engine but it looked appropriate for the mileage and was mostly original with service items changed. It's almost driver condition as there are some electrical issues and needs new tires plus hood and hatch props replacing.
The "warts" the seller is referring to are rust bubbles above each wheel and in the wrap around spoiler. The interior is worn but not trashed. Stock cassette player has been replaced as usual.
It's a car I would like to buy but my garages are full and bulging with projects. I'm still trying to figure out how to swing a deal. My wife won't care as long as it isn't parked out on the drive way. Time for that car lift?

On a side note: Looks like it still has the factory Multecs.

I'd be concerned about the rot...especially if you want to preserve the originality of the car.

Yeah, it makes it hard to value the car. The rust is just starting but usually what you can see indicates there is a lot more that you can't see, which means it would be a restoration rather than an original car. If it wasn't for the 1le, you could pick up a car like this for around $1500.

I could be wrong but didn't a magazine once test a 1LE T/A with those colors?
Maybe it was a 91-2?
I'll have to check my big book of thirdgens

It also looks like he has front wheels on the left side of the car and rears on the right side.

A 1990 1LE for $6,500 what are you waiting for. Buy It. It wouldn't be American if you didn't try to talk him down a little.

Re: 90 TA 1LE 1 of 4
The add does say obo. If I didn't have so many projects already, I would have bought it by now. It could be a daily driver with a bit of work and new tires but around here the rust bubbles will be full on rust by next summer. It has over 200,000 miles on it so everything will be worn and need some reconditioning during a restoration process and it takes a minimum of $15K to restore a car around here even if you do most of the work yourself. So it's a big commitment but at the end of it the license plate would read 1 of 4.

I was thinking about this 1LE. It's...ONE...OF...FOUR! Maybe 1 of 1, were the other 3 US car's?. Who knows when the next time you will see another for sale, And it won't be for $6,500.00. Just Thinking. BI

Yes, I agree. It's close, I can drive it home and park it outside. Oh wait, can't do that. My wife said no more cars on the driveway. I would have to rent a spot and sell my Hot Wheel collection to pay for it since he won't trade. Or I could sell this 68 Firebird 400/4 speed project:
