'89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
Wonder how many we have here, both Camaro and Firebird.
We estimate that maybe 300-400 Camaros were built as G92, 5 speeds in '89, (out of a total of ~ 1500), probably half that many Firebirds. So, maybe 500-ish total in '89? Far fewer from the shortened '90 MY.
EDIT:
Let's format it like this:
1) IROC, Formula or GTA.
2) Color combo
3) N10 or not
4) Build date
5) 3.45 or 3.42 axle ratio

I'll start. Mine was built in May '89. I can't remember when I ordered it. It has the late '89 N10 dual cats. It also has the DX3 decal delete. Black exterior with gray custom cloth.

I didn't realize that Compnine goes back to 1990? Too bad they don't go back further.

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
I've been trying to figure out what mine is, it's got some of the G92 stuff (LB9, mm5, 3.45 rear, disc brakes all around, alum driveshaft), but I think it's lacking the oil cooler, and definitely doesn't have the N10 exhaust. I just looked at the data plate, and it was built in 8-88 (it's an 89 though). On the tech sheet it looks like all you needed in 88 was the LB9 and 5spd for it to be G92. I don't know the whole history of it, so I guess someone could've changed the brakes and the rear, I don't have the rpos for those. What does it sound like to you? And is there any way I could find out for sure?

The only odd thing is the aluminum driveshaft.

Yours and mine, if not on the assembly line together, certainly spent some time at the Van Nuys holding lot together, waiting for final EPA certification.

I know of two more 89 cars that are g92 on this site...timfitz has a maui blue 89 with n10 and t tops, and there was a black n black one sold here by PC89GTA. Not only these two, my buddy on facebook has a 90 flame red g92. All of these are firebird formulas.

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
I haven't received this 1989 G92 5 speed yet, and will fill in the blanks when I do.
It has a build date by this invoice of 4/19/89 or days after that ? and a delivered date of 5/2.
But I'm not seeing N10 on this invoice....but I think it doesn't list everything ?
From what I'm reading in the Registry .... It should have N10 -- dual cats, correct ?
Sorry for the bad pic.....

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
That's the only copy I have a picture of for now.
I did talk to the former owner and he said it has two Cats that go into one 3" then back to the muffler, so I think that's N10 ?
I haven't picked the car up yet. I'll have it by next weekend.
i saw a pic of this two cat set up somewhere but I can't find it now.

N10 was included with G92 performance gear axle so I don't think you're going to see it on the invoice. Will be on the RPO label though.

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
Hi Richard,
I'll give this a go....and if I miss something please correct me.
G92 ...... included these performance options.
5 speed cars got a 3.45 rear axel ratio...i'm guessing here, autos got a 3.26 ratio ??
Engine oil cooler.
Rear disc brakes.
5 speed cars also got a bigger cam... not sure on the Autos ?
Dual cat exhaust....
Anything else help me out.

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
mine was almost a G92. my car is a 12/88 build date so its before N10 and didn't get the oil cooler but it has the MM5, GM3, J65 options.

Hmmm. Interesting. The 3.45 gear would have triggered the G92 package - in a Camaro anyways.

Also included in G92 was a N64 weight saving spare tire.
Is that just one of those mini spare tires ? did it have an Aluminum rim ?

Car: stock '89 Iroc-z 5speed
Engine: stock 5.0/305 tpi
Transmission: M5 code according to this site
Axle/Gears: not sure yet, need help
Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
Hi, I just join the site. As of 2yrs ago I own an '89 iroc-z
Original blue paint w/ IROC-Z side door decals and iroc-z/ tune port injection badges w/ tan interior black dash and center consul
Stock 5.0 tpi 5speed N10 dual cats and with the specs I assume it contains Borg Warner 3.45 gears according to this site which makes me assume the aluminum drive shaft spare included
Made in the California plant
To me the visible specs add up but it is very difficult to confirm when the RPO sticker in center consul is gone as well as removed from the doors. Any idea where else on the car can consist of these codes. I have checked the axle but the stamping is fading. Any help is appreciate.

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
even though this a registry for the G92/5speed cars...
Van Nuys Born mentioned the autos got the 3.26...
correction it's the borg-warner 3.27/ 9-bolt.
and just for chuckles my 89 GTA was built in 1/89 (same month i was born)
with the MX0 auto trans/N10 cats/KC4 oil cooler/GW6 3.27/J65 4 wheel brakes and the CC1 Ttops...
Kinda jealous that the 305s got the 3.45 gears...would love to have that with my ol GTA but of course that wouldn't work with GM and autos... so 3.27s it is then...
Also I'm already building a registery for all '89 birds..been doing this for a few years now and collected a bunch of data, very similar to what you guys are posting...those interested in having their car inputed in the registry PM me...I can forward a copy of list. I'm sure this project is on going since there are over 64k birds built in 89, (my car is number 34,172)...i'm sure i'm still in 3 digits numbers....
"G92 couldn't be had on a t-top Camaro???" -and yet another interesting thing about the 89 birds...ain't it? hehe

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
I never previously offered mine up as a G92 candidate because, frankly, I can't find any evidence that it's so equipped. I've checked the RPO decal several times (including again last night), but can't find "G92" on it anywhere. Mine does have many of the other codes that would ostensibly have qualified it as a G92, but for some reason I can't explain at the moment (perhaps just ignorance on my part when I originally ordered the car), it apparently never received the G92 equipment. Not sure if the vehicle had to be expressly ordered with the G92 equipment, even if it qualified; or if it was automatically equipped when and if it qualified...?
But for what it's worth, mine is:
- Formula
- Silver Blue Metallic (that's how it reads on the window sticker) with Medium Gray cloth
- N10
- May 1989
- 3.45
As "A1cRandy" mentioned, mine also has T-tops; don't know if that precluded the G92 options on my car ("chazman" stated that a T-top Camaro could not receive the G92 options in '89), but I saw that he has a G92 T-top Formula built prior to mine in April '89, so...?

Re: '89/'90 G92 5 speed registry.
timfitz63,
the codes you are looking for are as follow:
RPO JG1 for aluminum drive shaft
RPO KC4 is for engine oil cooler
as physical inspection: the oiler cooler is attached to the engine block and fits between the block and the engine oil filter. Hoses and lines run across the side of the block and then along the front part of the oil pan area and into side ports of the radiator.
The aluminum drive shaft for the most part don't rust like the steel type, and you can visually see it in it's destinct non painted bare metal (aluminum) appearance.
