parts for 1984 camaro ZF
I am currently looking at a 1984 camaro ZF and would like to know if parts for this car are interchangable with an iroc-z, z28, or just a regular camaro sport.

thing is that this is a salvage car and I dont know a whole bunch about it. the body of this car seems to be great and not alot of rust. I would just like to know what parts are going to be the hardest to find. also where is a good place or website to look for parts for this car at a good price. if u could help me with that it would alot. thanks

Hardest things to find are window felts, the little rubber triangle things at the front corner of the windows, and dash pads. The T-top center bar. Maybe wheel center caps if it has the alloy wheels. Same as any other 84 SC.

I think the unique parts of the ZF is the sunroof, the woodgrain dash and the ZF sticker... Beyond that not sure...

Re: parts for 1987
i need to know how much it would cost rebuild a 2.8 liter engian and to rebuild a transmission on an 1987 camaro sport, or if it would be better to buy a new one.

Best thing to do would prolly be to just go to the buzzard and get one of those motors out of a S truck.
Except, get one that isn't quite as weenie; the 3.1 and 3.4 for RWD pretty much are a drop-in.
Same for the trans. Just put yout extension housing on it.
Either one of those things, by itself, will cost more than the car is worth, to "rebuild". Wrong answer. Just throw em in the trash and get another used one.

How hard would it be to put in a 3.8L (95-02) in it's place, or at this point would you just be as far (or further) ahead to put in an LS motor?
Just curious...

No idea about the other 6-cyl... if it's not a direct bolt-up, prolly not worth the trouble. It'd still only be a 6-cyl.
But the LS series is a V8 and would require considerably more extensive work, such as swapping the trans as well. Hard to argue with the difference in results compared to about any 6-cyl though.
