1982 4 speed shift pattern(s)
So my car has the BW T-10, with the reverse UP and left ...
Did the Saginaw equipped cars have a different pattern (DOWN and left) ???

Re: 1982 4 speed shift pattern(s)
Bought my 82 Z28 new (still all original) with the T-10. Reverse is up next to 1st. A friend bought a V-6 4-spd at the same time. His reverse was on the right, forget whether up or down.

Thanks for the reply !
I wonder if anyone has a V-8 saginaew car that can verify the pattern ?
How does your T-10 shift ? Mine is getting pretty rough / hard to shift into second "fast" ... makes it so I'm the only one that drive it though

I test drove a 4-spd '82 Z28 some years ago and recall that reverse was up and to the left of 1st.

Re: 1982 4 speed shift pattern(s)
i was satisfied with the shifting of my super T-10,but i had trouble with the levers on the side working loose and causing the tranny to jam in two gears if not shifted "right"-had to "get out and get under"a couple times because of that...Swapped the T10 for a TH350 in '93,700r4 in '95 because tranny linkage was getting worn and tranny oil was gray with aluminum and input bearing noisy.

Re: 1982 4 speed shift pattern(s)
I had the T10 - up and left and a buddy had the Saginaw ... left and down by 2nd. It took me 14 years but now R is up and R. Miss the 4 gear for originality... but thats it. Definite cool factor to me!

Looks like this myth is busted
T10 Up by 1st
Saginaw Down by 2nd
AND onebad82z UP by 5th ... Where it should be ? I hope someday to go T56 or TKO

Re: 1982 4 speed shift pattern(s)
Yeah..T56. Like i said i miss the 4 speed... but do enjoy a double od. If my car was more intact when i bought it i may have preserved the originality... but the engine was long gone and all the computer stuff was hacked out so i modified it how i liked. I'd like to find another non a/c hardtop w the t10 and rear disk and restore it. Maybe one day.
