Here's a nice 1988 IROC-Z, I haven't seen many this color.

And a 1985, not is as nice shape as the '88, but I do love the yellow IROCs

That 88 is nice. But with that mileage, mediocre condition of the chassis and 2 cracked door panels, this "collector dealer" is asking about twice what it's worth.

The 85 is missing the factory 16" wheels - wonder if it's a real IROC...

That is what I call a polished turd God with a few hundred bucks on some the little interior details it would look so much better and reduce the chance of a customer getting the feeling that this is just a "polished turd". Over priced for sure!

Yeah, he's way high on the asking price. I also noticed the headliner along the T-bar is coming loose, so it's not perfect by any means. I'm thinking it's about a $8000 car, maybe a bit more for someone who just had to have that color.

Humm...., interesting. Were the matching painted wheels an IROC option in 1985? I know I've seen them on a few cars with IROC badging, cloned from Z28s or RSs?.

Here's an '85 with gold anodized wheels. I've seen these on a few black '85s too.

I've never seen factory "matching" Iroc rims, although I could be wrong. I've seen matching yellow Iroc rims, but I didn't think they were original equip. As far as I know, from 85-90, you could get Irocs in Silver or Gold, depending on trim packages.

Yeah, she's a beauty. I think the blue is my 2nd favorite IROC color. Strange, out of all those pix there's not a single shot of the interior or engine bay.

There's plenty of photos of the interior and engine bay. Keep looking. My favorite of all the pics is this one from the BW rear axle. Out-freakin-standing!

I love that blue/gold combo. My favorite IROC color scheme of all. A friend of mine had a new '86 in that combo back in the day. I haven't seen one since, until now. Too bad I don't have $15k+ burning a hole in my pocket, LOL!

Ok, found the other pix, fantastic! I would love to see that thing in person. I love looking at 3rd gens in good original condition.

Re: Here A Couple Original IROCs On Ebay, Good Reference Photos

Guys, please remember that you aren't looking at a newer used car. You are looking at an excellent condition 88 IROC-Z in a fairly uncommon color. A few cosmetic issues need to be addressed, but you'll see that with most cars of this age. The blue IROC-Z has cracked door trim also, but I don't hear you guys going crazy over that the price of that one. Both of these cars are in great shape and well worth their asking price. If they were perfect in all ways, they'd be asking more.

Everybody comes on these boards thinking they have a "rare"car in the hopes that it's a valuable car, and here we have regulars cutting down the asking price of a clean car. It's been mentioned before that our cars will not increase in value if the enthusiast doesn't even think they are worth the price.

The 1985 IROC-Z came with silver or gold rims only. No color matching was done in 1985.

Beautiful car and a hardtop T5... just awesome. And I think that price is very fair.

^^I agree. That blue one has me stopped dead, and thinking of selling my SS back to my father (he hasn't stopped whining since he sold it to me ).

A hardtop 5 speed TPI with 3.45s...yummy...

I was thinking the exact same thing Scott. .....and another thing I thought about when I first read those posts about the cracks, and other imperfections, is that those imperfections are what helps make it valuable. It shows the car hasn't been restored, AND hasn't been beat on. A survivor. Although definitions vary, if I'm spending that kind of money on a "stock" car, I don't want someone going in and replacing all those little things. I can do it myself I so choose, but I want the car as much original as I can get. If TOO much needs restoring, then it's A) not a survivor by definition, or B) I may not want the car anyway. ALL of those cars are gorgeous, and worth the money in my opinion.

I had to replace the door trim on my car with 6500 miles on it. Mine was cracked on the drivers side. It was one of the flaws when I purchased it. So, I fixed it!

Well, the orange IROC didn't sell. It didn't even get 1 bid at the $11,895 starting price.

It looks nice and was presented well in the ad but I think 11.9k is too much in this market for a 68k mile car. That jaw dropping blue/gold '87 with 20k on it is only 4k more, and I've seen several sub-30k mile cars going in the 10-12k range. To sell this one, they'll probably have to drop into the high four figures.

That's exactly what I've seen. I been watching ebay, craigslist, and other internet sales site for some time while looking for my car, and I still keep and eye on them. I've seen 30 or so very nice IROC's and Z28's with under 30k miles go for under $12k, sometimes way under $12k. When your selling a car, it's worth only what the market is willing to pay for it at that point in time. Going by what I've seen, on a good day, that car might have gotten $8000 in a no reserve auction. Let's keep an eye on the other cars in this tread, I predict will get to the asking price either, but I would be happy to be wrong.

There recently was an absolutely gorgeous, drool worthy rare medium gray 1988 5.7 IROC hardtop with 9,700 on the clock that brought $12,500 during a no-reserve ebay auction (pretty gutsy in this market LOL!).

Then there was a 1991 R7U with higher miles (about 85,000) but still very nice that only bid up to $8,600. That car had full documentation and a history as a pace car in the Canadian Players' series.

I posted about these two cars earlier. I think they definitely show it's a buyer's market right now.

The listing for the blue IROC ended this morning, it didn't sell at $16k. Let's see if it gets re-listed at a lower price.
