carbed 87 z28
Hey folks,
I think this is the right board for this. Came across an 87 z today with a 350 auto trans, carbed, power everything and presumabmle LS rear
Considering it as a project for my bro wanted to take a poll from the audience. The guy wants 4 hun. Its salvaged and the motor seized up while idling after doing a burnout.
Is it worth fixin'? Will need long block, paint and minor interior. Just not sure of the value of the non-tpi z's.
Thx

@ $400 you could use it for parts at least.... the 4BBL cars are slightly more desirable than a V6... The Fact it is a Z28 is probably more important.

I agree wit y'all. If it were for me I'd might pass just b/c I don't have the room though its worth more in just parts. It'll be a good project for my bro, carbed is a lot easier to maintain than TPI and he could handle an R&R of the long block pretty easily. I just don't like all the vacuum hoses that we'll have to deal with.
If I can get it i'll.post some pics.
Thx for the feedback.

Re: carbed 87 z28
Does CA still allow salvage cars to be registered?
$400 is always worth it for parts. It may just be a 4bbl, but if it is he 87 still, at least it was the roller cam version, had a little more zing.

Yes CA allows you to register salvaged cars and from the looks of it not sure why it got salvaged. All body parts looked original and lines were straight.
Anyway, its all a moot point now....found out late last night that the guy sold it. I wanted to get some feedback from the board and was going to make plans to pick it up this morn. The car was at a shop and didn't think the guy would bother with it after he left but was wrong.
The hunt continues.....thx guys.

Re: carbed 87 z28
It would only take about $1,500 in damage reported to insurance to get a salvage title issued on an 87 Z28, assuming it's your average condition, high-mileage car. A well-placed dent requiring half the car to be painted could do that alone.
