Engine Color - Chevy or GM Blue
1982 was the last year for "blue" engines. I'm curious if anyone knows if the 1982 block was painted the traditional Chevy blue or the more teal looking GM corporate blue.
I always assumed my block is and should be Chevy blue but after degreasing the oil pan last weekend it looks like the color is actually the teal GM blue. It's definitely got a pronounced teal color versus the more light blue color.
Anyone know for sure?

Not sure what you mean by Chevy blue. Are you talking about the blue that was used on the Chevy "Blue Flame" engines during the 50's?
From '77-82 GM engines were painted corporate blue. None of the aftermarket spray can engine paints are an exact match but Plasti-Kote brand is the closest after the engine goes through a few heat cycles.

Dennis is right, Chevy Blue and GM blue are essentially the same thing if we're talking 70s-up cars.
On the other hand, Pontiac/Olds Blue from the 70s *would* be completely different from Chevy/GM Blue from that era.

Thanks all. Looking at some color samples online (which I know are heavily affected by monitor calibration) it looked like the GM Corporate blue had more teal than the traditional Chevy blue.
