*Free Car History Report*
I stumbled upon a Web Developer that was making a site for People that would like a Car History Report. I found this tool to be very helpful and would like to share it with the ThirdGen Community.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
Yep it works. But I'm officially pissed at the people that did my emissions test 8 years ago. Instead of 53,000 miles, the jackass put in 153,000. So now the report says my Z-28 almost 3 times the mileage it actually has. Any way to fix that??

You could probably go to the place that insured your car and tell them what happened and they would more than likely recheck the speedometer and update your info.

I am happy as with that I found out more about my car than I was told.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
worked on my 90 vette. However I would have expected some damage report noted. At some point the whole rear tub has been replaced on this car as well as the rear 1/4 panels. You can see the trunk area should be green however it is white.
So yes at some point it was hit pretty hard. Any vette I have seen the rear trunk area is always body colored. You can also see damage to the riser, however this is good for me hahaha ... I can say it has no damage record now.

If you try another service like Carfax it might show the accident damage. I have done this before and noticed that one service will have information that another doesn't.

Did a search for the 1983 Berlinetta I bought new and traded-in in 1987. I would always keep an eye out for it but never saw it around. Come to find out it ended up in Aguas Buenas Puerto Rico 2 months later!! Buffalo to Puerto Rico, WOW.
Thanks for the link.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
Never mind...operator error. I put in a O instead of a 0. Works great but it lists my car as an IROC Z28 / RS. Any ideas on what that means? All of my badging says IROC which is what I bought it as.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
That's odd... I put my truck vin # in and it claimed to have zero reported accidents.
I remember getting sideswiped by a drunk driver some years ago and that resulted in getting most of the rearend replaced (almost 20k in repairs) you'd think the guy fixing it (or the insurance paying for it) would report something like that eh

Re: *Free Car History Report*
Make sure that the numbers you put in are correct. I was putting in an O instead of a zero for one of my numbers. When I put in the zero it stopped telling me that the report wasn't available and the CarFax came up.

They must have blocked it. These were being run on a dealership account, so the dealership must have wised up and changed the log in information

Re: *Free Car History Report*
DMV is notorious for this i guess. When i bought my svt focus the title and records showed it had 166,000 miles on it, when in reality it had 69,000 on it when i was buying it. I got it all straightened out at the DMV though and when they issued it a new title they corrected the mileage screw up.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
I'm considering calling my State DOT and going off on them today. they messed up the title to my IROC when I bought it, 10,181 instead of 100,181 I got the title corrected (by telling them they screwed up, and submitting the paperwork to prove it) but the autocheck report still reflects the incorrect millage.

I actually just got off the phone with Experian. I have to fax them over a copy of my title that reflects the correct mileage then it should be just fine.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
Thanks for the site, I found out that my 1988 IROC-Z is an orginal 28,989 mile car. That I bought for less than a 1000.00 a year a go. The owner and I believed the miles rolled over, but the engine bay and under carriage shows differant being a 28,989 car. I am excited to find this information out.

Re: *Free Car History Report*
Just keep in mind that any vehicle that has had damage, but has been repaired without the insurance company knowing it, or without the law involved will not be on the report. Also, if a speedometer has been replaced, that won't be on the report either. It's harder to do with newer vehicles, but the older ones can be replaced and know one would know. I did a car fax report on mine when i bought it with 44,000, checked out perfect. After taking the dash out for light bulb replacement, It was marked $125 on the instrument housing. So does it have 144,000, 44,000 or 78,000? Who knows. Still a good idea to check it out though.
