Here are some cool pics I found of Dick Gulstrand's 1983 Z/28 at the 24 hours of Nelson Ledges.

Here's a Trans Am from the same race. He placed 36th.

What happend to that Z28? Looks like it got rolled during the race. I really like the bright red / silver trim '82-'84 Z28's.

What were the regulations required of vehicles to be able to run in the race?

Re: 1983: 24 Hours of Nelson Ledges.
For example:
VR50/245/16 Gatorbacks on an '83 Z/28 and Mustang SVO in the '83 race and an '85 IROC in 1984, months before their actual release.
I also believe that the '82 race had the Camaro running an L-69.
All of that stuff was for the factory backed teams, however. The privateers just ran stock(ish) cars.

Thanks! Great pics!
Sometime in the summer of '89, I was in my IROC coming home on I-94 around midnight. I saw one of these two Mecum Racing Camaros on a trailor about a 1/4 mile ahead. As I got closer, I suddenly recognized it. I matched my speed to it and followed alongside for about 10 minutes, checking it out.

Totally awesome pics!!!!!!! Great for the historatic record. Since finding an original race car that is not wrecked can be a tuff task. I have been thinking about recreating one using a white car.
These pics are a great historic record to work from. Thanks again for posting!!
