There sure is a LOT of wear on the cig lighter, rear window defrost/ window switches and hatch release switches..
I'm bettn the windows went down and the cigs got lit up a lot in that car.. I'd bet it smells funky all up in there..

I don't know guys. This car appears to have more than 44k miles on it. I believe the car has either had the instrument cluster swapped out or the car is a very clean 144k mile car. The wear on the buttons and the steering wheel have me wondering. Also, looking under the hood, the coolant overflow tank looks really nasty for only 44k miles. Granted, mine is under 20k and I am comparing it to that, but does anyone else have an all original 50k mile car with an uncleaned overflow tank? What does it look like? The rims also show quite a bit of wear for 44k. I have 115k on my Silverado and the aluminum rims have fewer blemishes!!

So they had a 5500 redline with an 80 mph speedo? The car looks clean but the wear on window and hatch release seems suspect. None on the "automatic overdrive". Lots of documentation, which always helps the sale at any price. I like it but I don't know if it is what it was sold as.

The most common reason for the missing print on the switches is scrubbing too hard and cleaners.

i find it hard to believe someone paid that much for that car... looks quite ragged to me. the paint has been corrected so it looks "clean" but the interior tells the true tale imo.

They were installed on 82-85 Camaros with an AM radio, or a radio that had no digital clock.
This car has had the radio replaced. There were 809 Camaros in 1985 with clocks.

Welll the console clocks are not that rare. Maybe in 85 but there are quite a few clocks out there. I found mine in an 82 that was being parted out. I think quite a few people have them in the 3rd gens although they only came in 82-85 cars. Mine will be installed soon. All the Camaro consoles are setup to accept them, a hole just needs to be drilled.

Steering wheel wear, console button wear, cigarette lighter wear, fog light stencil wear, incorrect pedal pads (I think), shift **** and parking brake leather is hashed up.....yeah, nasty coolant overflow.
Shouldn't there be a "Tuned Port Injection" badge on the left side of the rear bumper cover?
Why does the build sheet read, "AM Radio" but there's an AM-FM radio in there?

chazman has a yellow 40k mile IROCZ, same year. It would be good to compare this car with his.
I agree with 144k or cluster swap. My 85 has 103k, and this interior has more wear than mine. I know some cars have harder lives than others, but this one seems just a touch too fishy.

Mine's not nasty but it's definitely a little brown, and I have about the same mileage as you do. From sitting so long, a small amount of rust particles/sludge got mixed up in it and is still around. I've flushed it a few times and it's getting better.

Finally able to see this one (can't view ebay at work!). I don't think it's all that bad of a car. It's very possible that those 44k miles are legit, but the car has seen more Illinois weather than it should have. The coolant tank is pretty nasty for 44k miles. To me it looks like a not so well maintained 44k mile car as opposed to an immaculate 144k mile car.
You might be able to verify the mileage based on documentation, service records, and CarFax. I don't know what the CarFax cut off is, but I was able to pull one on mine that lined up with the documentation, mile for mile.
That being said, for $12k I certainly wouldn't buy that one. It's an 85, automatic, and not as pristine as I'd expect for 44k miles. I do like the color combo, though.

Pretty nice but not perfect. Note the missing "Tuned Port Injection" emblem on the rear bumper, moisture in the turn signal lenses, wear on steering wheel, shift **** and pedals, worn dashboard and console markings, and incorrect wheel caps on the passenger side. It's most certainly been repainted at some point too, albeit with the correct decals reinstalled.
Those blemishes would be excusable in a lower price bracket but less so at the $13,000 level. Gen IIIs have sold for that recently but usually they have less than 25,000 miles on them and are nearly perfect. This was also a whole lot of coin for a 45,000 mile car, given that just 10,000 more miles will put this solidly in the $7-8k price bracket.
My sense is that alcohol may have been involved in the bidding on this one.
