How to install RPO Decoder on XP

Hi all,
I thought this would be helpful, since i could not find instructions on how to install RPO Decoder.

1. Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs
a. Look for Microsoft .net framework. My latest version is 4.0

2. Go to home page for RPO Decoder. Right click and save to your desktop.

3. If it does not auto install, as mentioned from other posts, do the following:
a. Go to Start --> Run. A run window will appear.

b. In the run window, type cmd. This is the shell window (A black window appears with a command prompt with a blinking white cursor).

c. On the command prompt, type cd Desktop --> enter

d. to see the msi file in the shell window, type dir --> enter

e. To install the RPO decoder, type msiexec.exe -i 3rdGenRPO.msi.txt
( Yes, it saved as a txt file, but still installed it).

The first screenshot below will show the windows shell (black window) on my Desktop with the 3rdGenRPO.msi.txt listed at the top of the shell window.

The second screenshot shows the completed installation with the RPO icon on the desktop.

I tried it out and seems to work.
Good Luck

Re: How to install RPO Decoder on XP

We did have some brief instructions (such as the RPO Decoder requires .NET Framework and simply right-click to Save As to download the RPO Decoder before installing). If this is done, I thought it was installable like an executable so command line shouldn't be necessary.

That said, Scott and I have been working on a better RPO Decoder that won't need 3rd party software to install or read. Scott and I are still working on the populating the database.

That's cool. I think msiexec.exe is a Windows tool. I might have options that are turned off, so that;s why i did it manually. This is a great site for info.

Re: How to install RPO Decoder on XP

I have been spread very thin lately and have not been able to work on the RPO database. I may need to take up Douglas' offer to help out! It might actually get done this century!!!
