1984 Sport Coupe V8 ,A4 LG4 V8 8.6:1 5.0 (305)
I just recently got a 1984 Sport Coupe V8 automatic. I have been looking around the internet and I've noticed that I rarely see 84 Sport Coupe V8s for sale/owned. Is this other people's experience too? Is there a reason for this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yeah, that's the base model car for that year, with the bottom of the line V8 (although at least, it's not a 6-cyl, or worst of all, a 4-cyl). Not "desirable". People make Z28 clones out of them, use em as parts cars, etc.
But if it's in good shape and you didn't pay much for it, enjoy it.

Wow. He can turn it into a Z28 clone, or part it out. Sad.
LG4 Sport Coupes were uncommon. Yes, most Sport Coupes had V6's. Sport Coupes in general are not seen much anymore. When I was in high school 20+ years ago, the majority of thirdgens were base models. I have a soft spot for them.
I'm not sure why this board, or this section in particular, has such a dislike for Sport Coupes. Keep the body original, without the ground effects, and if the paint is in decent shape, you will turn more heads than any IROC will. Yeah, the LG4 is anemic by todays standards, but the same could be said for any of the powerplants available from the factory in third-gens.

There aren't many of them left, even though they were probably the highest production trim line of any Camaro. Like sofakingdom said, they're not exactly desirable cars. Also, most of the owners of the ones that ARE left are not aware that they were called "sport coupes" and not just a Camaro.

The older I get, the more I like the simple lines of a Sport Coupe. Great car to keep as is with a V8, or make it a sleeper and swap the LG4 for a nice GMPP crate motor...
