Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

Quote: Square '80s Camaros and Firebirds were hot, until curves came back in the '90s, then they went cold as the grave and most were beaten to death by bottom feeders. A few IROC models (especially convertibles), named after the International Race of Champions, have value, but most are used up and good survivors are tough to find. $1,000-$5,000 (convertibles).

I actually agree with some of this statement, not because I already knew this and went out and found a clean vert before they are gone. But If you look around thru out history most Vert models of any cars in general are worth more.

I don't care what anyone else thinks of 3rd gens. I know the truth. There's a reason I own 3 of them. 3rd gens were the best cars ever made.

Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

Guys, I've edited four posts for language in this thread alone. I have better things to do than monitor every post for people trying to bypass the language filter. About once a year, I have to address this, so it must be that time. We are all adults and can have a conversation without swearing. You need to make a conscious effort to bypass the filter, so you could make a conscious effort to choose better language! Thanks

Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

I find that overusing vulgar words, especially when they are repeated in every sentence, to be very boring.

But when used sparingly, I find they can really emphasize an important point.

And they also come in handy when auto repair turns to despair. Like when you snap off an exhaust stud or drop a socket down an open intake port.

There is a way to curse eloquently vs just using swear words as simple adjectives and adverbs, to be sprinkled about your conversation randomly.

Both ways are commonly used when working on cars. When I was little, I used to hear my father cursing in Greek at whatever he was fixing. Usually plumbing fixtures. He didn't really curse in common conversation though, but a backed up sink trap would get him going. The specific combination of swear words didn't really make sense to me then, but they do now.

I've found as I get older, I've started to unconsciously fall back on those old Greek curses when working on my 3rd gens. Yes...many a bolt, fastener or bracket, has heard me remind them of their ancestor's or even mother's fornication habits - in Greek.

I laugh at how the article implies 4th gens are better looking than 3rd gens....

Curves came back in the 90s? From what I've seen the past several years they've gone back out of style in a big way.

Chaz... just admit it , you're getting older like we all are but I got you beat by a few years. ....I know a few 'select' German words, but I don't say them on the internet.

Scott makes a good point in that we all need to watch our language and keep the conversations civil. This is a public forum and we don't want to discourage young members and the Ladies from posting.

Enjoy your cars.

The article is a joke. 5th Gens are pretty square and sharp as are most new cars today. Design changed for the better when all these companies brought back LINES like the 80s and before on automobiles instead of the round bubbles of the 90s.

Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

You know what, Good. I'm glad lots of people have such a negative outlook on our cars.

I am glad that I was still able to obtain a rustfree, stock IROC for under $5000, It took some looking but I got it.

First gens are priced way out of the league of most of the people that want to enjoy their car for what it was built to do, Second gens are rapidly on the way to being there too.

I didn't buy my car to be a museum piece, but I enjoy keeping it original. I enjoy it as much as I can and if the "LOL trailerpark ****** car" stigma keeps it affordable then I don't care. I bought it for me not everyone else.

You forgot to mention that your iroc will outhandle all camaros and firebirds from the 60-70s. They are crazy expensive and look awesome...but the suspension tech is not there. I for one like the fact that for now IROCs are relatively cheap and a GREAT performance car out of the box. With just a few bolt ons you can get one to handle like a go cart too. Try doing that with a late 60s or early 70s car and you will go broke.

White and subroc you guys are both bang right on. The allure of the third gen is that it is beautiful, fun to drive, and cheap.

If the rest of the world is oblivious to this, good for us.

i have been watching this thread since posted . true i am disgusted with many of the comments as most members here are . BUT , stop and think of all that has come from chicago . Al Capone , Mayor Daley and the list goes on to present day . chicago must be a breeding place for pinheads . ignore and consider the source . i rest my case on the facts . (i'm sure not all people from chicago are pinheads) good luck to all .

Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

Obviously, the writter of this article is not a car person, nor is hetuned in to car culture. Some (most) articles are just written to fill space.

1. While edgy, i wouldnt classify a 3rd gen Camaro as "square" and certainly not a 3rd gen Firebird.

2. the so called "curvey" styling of the 4th gens lost its appeal quicker than a piece of Fruit Stripes gum. from my experience, even among the general public, style-wise, 3rd gens get a much more positive reaction today.

3. Todays Camaros are way more "square" than any 3rd gen.

Personally, i feel no envy of 5th gen owners. my problem with the 5th gen: too bulky. seems taller than it is wide - which is not the Camaro way. due to its size, the new Camaro exudes the same aura (elicites the same emotional response in me) as a new Chevy Tahoe. awesome engine. huge, unoriginal car with 0 attitude.

I'm not a big fan of the 5th gens. I work at a ford dealership and we have had a couple come in on trade. One was a brand new SS with only a few thousand miles on it and the owner traded it in on a new mustang gt. He didnt like the new camaro. I serviced it and I didnt care for it either. Seemed very plain on the inside and you couldnt see out of the back or side of the car. Not really a big fan of the 4th gen either. Just didnt like the lines of the car. Too bubblely. My fav is the 3rd gen. Just has that look that I love which I think we all do. Thats why we own one.

The new mustang is one bad hombre. I likey.

I am a fan of the 2nd and 3rd gens.

I love the speed of the LS motor in the 4 gens, if given the chance I would trade my IROC for a 4gen SS 6speed

The LS3 made up for any visibility issues. I just sold my 2010 2SS/RS M6 due to the wife being "downsized" and going back to school. I miss that car fiercely. Took it on the Power Tour 2010 and had the time of my life. This year looking like it's going to be the TA with t-tops.

Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

Only thing i appreciate about the 4th gens more than our 3rd gens is that in the 4th gen they brought back the SS package and other basic fundimentals about the different trims. However, by the time the 4th gens rolled around, the muscle car image died completely. In my opinion our cars were one of the last true muslce-looking cars left. Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't worry too much what the Trib has to say. They have these lists all the time be it top ten whatever cars or worst this or hottest whatever. They are space taker uppers. Lately they've had a series of articles on new cars from the auto shows and most of it is just plain dumb. Don't lose any sleep over this, please.

I always thought from day one that the 4th gens looked like a full sized Geo storm.

Re: Just dropping by to say YOU'RE BOTTOM FEEDERS.

The day that I believe the media is the day that the media starts telling you the truth. You have to realize that the Media is interested in one thing, selling you something, whether or not it has any truth involved. There are some outlets that are more reliable, but none that do it without a bias, filter or a spin.

I did not read the article as the link was dead, however I can only imagine that like most everything out of Chicago it is full of lies, hate, deceit and only during the second blue moon in a calendar year has a hint of truth.
