Oh yeah, don't even worry about the spring codes Scott... Back in 1999 I took a survey and collected spring codes for about 40 different thirdgens. The 1LE springs (front and rear) were standard crap off the shelf that GM used as early as 1984 (1982-83 thirdgens don't have a SPID to compare). Generally any FE2 (Irocz/WS6 Firebird) uses the exact same springs as a 1LE. I've even posted documentation from GM's own system that shows the 1LE springs are nothing special.

But nobody wants or collects a G92 car they care want and desire a 1LE car. All the posts in the world wont change that. Thank the great marketers of the world for putting value on something that is no dif then another. This is why we have Justin Bieber, its all a market to be had by the best marketing campaign. Win goes to 1LE.

Maybe, maybe not... It adds as much or more then the 1LE in my opinion, because it's something that people actually SEE, and recognize. It's something tangible. People THINK it represents something special, just like the 25th anniversary badge on the dash of every 1992 Camaro. People look for things in a hope to cash in, while the reality is that most people overlook what truly makes a thirdgen desirable.

Sure would be nice if I could edit my posts. LOL
Look, the sheep that drink the Kool-aid can go ahead and drool over the 1LE. But those in the know, that have been around a while understand that G92 is the option that put the Camaro and Firebird on top of the Mustang on the street and the dragstrip (in stock form anyway). There are magazine articles from the same time period as those pertaining to the 1LE that say as much. G92 has always been a buzz word that the smart thirdgenner looks for. To say that it's not, well that's just silly.

Nice diss by you Drew i really expected something better then my time on this board as a logical response. I think its an accurate reflection as to the direction of the thread.
You have a healthy opinion good for you. this thread is a circular discussion with one individual who wants to be right at all cost.

Drew is right. My neighbor has an 89 IROC-Z with the 350. I have an 87 IROC-Z with the 350. My car is rated at 225hp, and the 89 is rated at 230hp. My torque is 330, the 89 is also 330. My car is faster though. The 87 350 came standard with the G92. My neighbor has 2.77 gears. If he bought the G92 option, his 230hp would be 240hp and the torque would jump from 330 to 345. People in the know do shop and look for G92 cars. I am not interested in any 88-90 IROC-Z unless I see G92. Again, value comes from performance and the higher performing the car, the more demand it will have.

LOL There you go ahead taking comments personally, and thinking it's disrespect. Am I having a little fun at your expense, absolutely. Did you say something so incredibly silly to warrant a little ribbing, absolutely.
The logical conclusion I can draw from your statement, is that you haven't been around long enough to have seen much interest in G92. While times have moved on, and the fastest thirdgen is no longer anything to really brag about, G92 (or the performance package commonly referred to as "G92") is what separates the slow thirdgens from the fast thirdgens (in stock form, anyway). That you don't know that, haven't seen that before, and think that true thirdgen aficionados don't want, and aren't looking for G92 cars, can only be attributed to you being out of your element.

That's BS. The MK6 T5 has the .73 gear ratio, and was the standard transmission used with a V8 and 3.42 gears regardless if the car was a 1LE or not. The rumor states that there was a .80 fifth gear, however there's no proof that the .80 gear came that way from the factory, instead of being changed by someone after the fact looking for an edge. There's also no part number, and the RPO codes show the exact same MK6 RPO code, indicating that service parts would be the same T5 as a non-1LE.
Best guess? The id chart you're going off of has at least one typo... B9 probably was supposed to be LB9. Where they're getting the "racing" from is anyone's guess, but it sounds like optimistic hogwash. It sounds like a typical Worldclass T5 to me.
2.76 is the reverse gear. The 175 is listed as a 2.95 first, .73 fifth.

My pride and joy is a 1984 H.O. Z28. <snip>
I decoded all of my car's RPO codes on this site and there are a few that I have never heard or read about that might save me some money if this car is really equipped with these RPO's. <snip>
Also RPO MK6 (man 5 spd,borg warner,2.95 1st, O/D).<snip>

Re: 1991 1LE Z28 for $8000??
Since this is starting to get personal and people are getting angry, I think we should just call this one documented.
What we accomplished in this thread was dispelling the myths that the 1LE isn't anything more than a G92 car without AC and has larger brakes. It is a special car in that it was designed for racing by GM, but they went about it the wrong way. They could've given it some of the "special" features that so many believe make up the 1LE. If they did, the car would be more special to more people. The suspension was the same, the tranny was the same, the rear gears were the same, the driveshaft was the same, the engine was the same, etc.
Again, the car is special in it's own way, just like the B4C and the California IROC and the Heritage Edition. Is the car worth more money? If you're willing to pay for it, then yes. Let's take a break.
