Do you have Cars and Concepts T-Tops? If so, Need Your Help!

I recently acquired a 1984 Firebird with the C&C t-tops. With the company out of business for many years, I realize that there's no way to find out when the t-top conversion took place, but I'd like to try.

I do have the stickers under the trunk lid, but the date of the conversion was never written on them. All I can go by, I assume, is the serial number on the C&C label, which is: 102736. So, I am asking if anyone out there has C&C t-tops and know when they were installed, please post the serial number and date of installation. Alternately, if anyone has any contact information for anyone that worked at Pacific T-top in California, please let me know.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Do you have Cars and Concepts T-Tops? If so, Need Your Help!

C&C did T-top conversions for many car models, from Mustangs, to Camaros, Firebirds, I want to think even Lincolns, and some other models.

More or less, if I understand how it worked, was C&C made a kit, and they would send it out to either dealerships to have it installed or qualified installers...

There should be some things that I have scanned in from original C&C Brochures.

I guess they had a specific kit for Camaros?

I have C & C T-Tops on my 1988 Camaro and am also looking for more information, as well as a set of seals!

Yes, there was a specific kit for the F-body. As the lines of other cars would not be the same.

Here is the Brochure if anyone is interested, I thought I posted it in the past...

The C&C tops are about 1.5 or 2" shorter front to back than the factory ones, it might be as much as 3" I do not know exactly, I just know they are shorter.

That and the Factory T-tops have RPO CC1

Any way we could document miscellaneous sales multimedia for our cars, like this brochure? Perhaps a General/Assorted Multimedia section where anything like this could be posted. Could also use that section to put in any other conversion information/packages like Mecum, VHO, etc. that people come across.

The C &C T-Tops are 1" shorter. You can tell the difference because there is more sheet metal at the front of the car.

Other differences:

May rust less due to better water dispersal.

Stronger with better reinforcement.

Re: Do you have Cars and Concepts T-Tops? If so, Need Your Help!

The difference between stock ttops and C&C? One had a roof stamped for T-tops, the other started as a hardtop and had someone cut the middle of the roof with a Sawzall. C&C used rubber trim to cover the cut steel, GM did it all with weatherstripping. GM t-tops look like they're part of the car, C&C look tacked on like an aftermarket sunroof.

The C & C implementation is pretty good.

I only found out my T-Tops were C & C rather than factory when I needed to replace the rubber seals.

I will say one thing about the C&C Tops is they had some options that the factory units did not.. . For example they offered a pop up type, like a sunroof, which I thought was a really neat idea.

Re: Do you have Cars and Concepts T-Tops? If so, Need Your Help!

In reply to another thread on this site and also at gtasourcepage.com, I posted some pitures of the difference between C&C and CC1 t-tops.

The C&C t-tops, from the example I saw, had a very extensive "butterfly" rivetted into the hardtop roof to accomodate the t-tops.

The C&C apparently (annecdotally speaking) seem to be stiffer than the CC1 t-tops.

If you got the seals from sunroofdoctor, why didn't you get the pillar caps as well? They have brand new pillar caps that look way better than the set you posted a pic of.

My gta has tht c&c logo in the tops.haven't noticed a sticker anywhere for them.
I m curious about something now tho.
are c&c ttops factory authorized like an asc convertible conversion was? Or did some random person drive a hardtop there and have the roof cut? Reason I ask is I have no spid stickerto check for an rpo code.

C&C did do some factory conversions for GM, for example C&C actually made the Banshee Concept car in the late 80's, they also maintained a fleet of Show Cadillacs at one time. C&C made convertible conversions for the Ford Mustang back in the 80's, They also converted the Olds Cutlass Convertible and the few Beretta Convertibles, which never made it into production.

With all that said, C&C Sold Conversion kits to Dealers and some specialty shops for installing T-tops in Firebirds and Camaros, and several other models, there is a list I do not have it on me right now.

I think you should leave the conversion intact and paint in place. There has to be some sacrifice in strength by drilling out all those rivets to remove the frame. It's probably worth it to leave it in place when you have it painted.

In some years T-Tops were not factory option for L98 IROCs due to body flexing, so instead C & C T-Tops were bought instead.

Hi. This forum relates only to 82-92 Camaros and Firebirds; 3rdgens, not 2ndgens. And the person you're replying to appears to be showing a 3rdgen, unless I've missed something elsewhere in the thread, so his parts wouldn't fit your 79.

As already posted in this thread, this is the company that supposedly still services C&C t-tops and sunroofs. They only show seals for 3rdgens, but if you contact them maybe they can provide some type of information or assistance.

. I just bought a 89 C&C Camaro and finally found a company that has the rubber seals. I kinda like how they open like a sunroof . Mine have been sealed shut with something so it’s time to order new seals
