My 1986 Iroc resto/rebuild.

Well I just felt it was time to post what I am doing to my girl. Bought it for 3k, 86 Iroc, had a 305 tpi in it. Which was already ripped out and a 355 put in. Soon are roller rockers and SFC's . This winter, Needs new drivers fender, and some of the GFX are shot. Also need a hood to fit a better air cleaner. So a daytona cowl hood is in order. Also new Moog springs are on the way, hopefully some Koni yellows coming this winter as well.
Hopefully going to do HID's this winter as well. Then after that I want to put a new 700r4 in with a Rachet shifter (thought about a t56 swap but not now). And then someday down the road will be complete paint job (will probably just stack the GFX till then ) going to go a dark blue pearl. Other small things like pedals and steering wheel along the way. Will keep posting if anyone is interested (even if not)
Pics are on my profile
Ok for the motor its a 350 bored .30 over with flat tops and 64cc heads, clevite 77 bearings, arp main and stud bolts. Double roller timing chain, Edelbrock performer intake and a edelbrock cam (pretty sure its .420/.442) and an edelbrock 600 electric choke carb. Built in the garage of course. Other random specs 3.23 posi, 700r4 then the usual iroc stuff. and a sound system.

Well there has been some progress made. New hi torque mini starter, got the roller rockers, 1.6 ratio scorpion race series full rollers. Repainted the whole front end (both fenders, new hood and the bumper cover). Along with a fresh oil change to get the summer rolling. Oh and a new air cleaner because I got the hood on. As well as new (to me) black seats to replace the old torn up gray ones.Name: 907fa9ad.jpg

Re: My 1986 Iroc resto/rebuild.

Also changed up my plans for the future. First is Strange's version of a dana 60 with 3.73s and a Detroit locker and chromoly drive shaft. Then is going to be a built 700r4. Then after that comes yet another new motor, probably a fully forged 383 hopefully putting down somewhere around 510hp. But the motor is a long way away. Oh and If I still dislike the red (which is growing on me) I will paint it blue after all the mechanical stuff is all said and done.

Is this a daily driver? What paint code for the red did you use? Where did you get the louver inserts for the Daytona hood?

How do you like those headlights?

Just wondering. It looks nice.

Yes that is my daily driver in the summer. As for the paint I used PPG's Delton DBU (which is a base, clear rather than single stage) 3794 is the code for bright red (RPO WA8774). How ever there are a bunch of variants for this color I happened to just use the prime(aka most popular). The inserts for the hood came with the hood when I bought it used from some guy on craigslist, and I kept my old ones off the stock IROC hood just in case something happened. I like the lights but they really need the upgraded harness mentioned here.
