Lots of Questions: 1984 Camaro Z28...

Hello, So my dad bought an '84 z28 that has had some changes... some good... some bad...
Im not a big fan of american cars so i dont know as much i would a japanese car but its growing on me and i might take this car or i might not. (and yeah you guys can hate me bc im more of an import person, not to be confused with people rice out their cars or stupid stuff like that ) either way i have a lot of questions and am hoping to find some help.
its a little beat up but we recently got it running pretty well, there seems to be no problems for now..
i would love to help my dad out and i would love to learn which i have enjoyed learning what i know now about it.

but back when it was new which we bought it from the original owner who gave it to their son and bought whatever he wanted.

1. so one thing he did was tear it apart and professionally had it into a convertible. IMO i think that was stupid. is it possible to put a hardtop back on? price range?
2. the next is he had it professionally turned into an automatic. which again IMO was stupid. how tough would it be trying to get it back into a manual? price range?
3. also i did some research on the car and i know its should be a 305 motor... but in 1999 they had it replaced with a 350 motor. I have no idea how to figure out what kind of 350 motor and would like to know how i can find that out. (all the paperwork for the engine swap only calls it a 350 motor so no luck there).
4. The tranny has also been replaced. allegedly a corvette tranny. i would also like to know how i can figure this out? no paper work...
5. If it were up to me, i'd want to restore it to the factory paint which i dont think it is what color it is now. its a grey with black accents, my dad wants to paint it black. but i would like to know the original paint. i tried figuring out for myself but i couldnt. I have all the numbers from under the hood and read as follow (the "1"s in parenthesis could just be a symbol bc it didnt look like complete #1's):
E02D (1)FP87 N (1) 48491
59L 59U Enamel
64C AR9
Z28 D80
093074 216931
6. Anyone know where I can find badges for the whole car front, rear, and sides?

I know its a lot but any help, serious or jokingly, would be appreciated

Ok let me anwser a few hardtop sure its posible probly pricey 2. To go manual you need pedal assembly, flywheel, slave cylinder , clutch, tranny a good t56 swap would run ya about 1200 3. Engine id Try looking driver side back below head probly need mirror youll see some numbers search them theres also make model # passenger side front usualy on a lip behind bracket 4. Tranny probly 700r4 if its a 4 speed 350 if its a 3 speed u can look it up by the pans bolt patteren

I'll do what i can to ID your radiator tag
E -1984,02 - Febuary,D - 4th week,1 - USA,FP - Body line(series)/sport coupe,87 - body style (2 door coupe),N - assembly plant (Norwood,Ohio),148491 - sequence number,59L - Beige (exterior color lower),59U - Beige (exterior color upper),Enamel -type of paint,64C - camel cloth (interior),AR9 - recling bucket seats,Z28 - RPOZ28,D80 - rear spoiler

The last line is somewhat of a mystery as to their meaning. They have to be plant codes for trim or options.

For the badges are they missing completly or in bad shape? With the exterior color beige and interior camel the badges, wheels and stripes should be gold (it's the same color combo as my '83). To start in the for sale section here (post a wanted add may help). Also look on Ebay but make sure you ask questions and they have clear pictures of front and back (make sure it's not cracked and has retainer pins intact). There are also suppliers like Year One and Classic Industries. I hope this is of some help for you and good luck.

as for the badges. it looks like someone purposely wanted all of them, maybe another buyer or maybe the original owner for keeps or resale.

Re: Lots of Questions: 1984 Camaro Z28...

Hate to revive this thread but i wouldn't mind to know what color my car used to be. Mostly i am trying to find out what color striping my car had and to find out which emblem color is right that is on my car as of now. I have one z28 emblem that starts off with like a beige at the top and then gets lighter. The other one starts off with like a darker silver then gets lighter towards the bottom. Also if you can't see the code on the very top left is an E far right 9 middle left 8.
