If it is 35k then I dont think it really is that overpriced. More than I would spend but what do you expect for 35k? If it was a 350 I would jump on it in a heartbeat. I also like how it is a 5-speed and that it's that cool blue.

I think that is a very fair price for a well maintained, low-mileage IROC that has never been abused. Where else are you gonna get one? :-)

This one may be a V6 but it has way lower miles and looks pretty nice.

I'd say he is asking at least double what the car is worth. The the LO3 and base wheels kill it IMO, It's no different than an RS. I've seen some georgeous GTAs going for 6-8k that I'd buy way before I paid 12k for a TBI car with 15" rims...

He's had that car for a long, LONG time. I remember that car because of the cheap, no-name white lettered tires I've never heard of before.
Consider I paid $12,500 a year ago for a TPI 350, loaded with 21k miles on it. With an LO3 and 15s, I think its worth around $8,000, and that's it. It truly is an RS with nice side stripes

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
Not too bad of a price IMHO. The fact that it's a base model IROC with a 5 speed makes it that much better. It's not something you see everyday.

Wow, I guess I am on the wrong site..
Way to trash a RS, And a V6... I like all the third Gen, I have had the 350 Iroc I know what they can do. My RS is nice also, just SLOW!!!
I think it is a fair price, looks nice low miles, clean and someday worth more.

Yeah, that car's been for sale for quite some time. I've seen it before as well.
The LO3 is kind of a drag, but at the same time when was the last time you saw an LO3 IROC? It's kind of cool in its own right for that.
The 15" wheels, who cares. They don't look any different than the 16" version, but he won't exactly have a problem buying tires for his 15" rims in the future.
The base interior is hideous though, IMO.
Overall I think it's a bit high, but I could see close to $9k-$10k for it. 35k miles is low, but not THAT low. 50k isn't too much further along in the car's future, and once you near 50k it's hard to wet yourself over low mileage, even if a car is 20 or 30 years old. 50k is still 50k, and that car isn't too far from it in reality.
It's kind of cool just because you NEVER see LO3 IROCs, let alone 5-speeds with base rims and interior too. You bet the original owner was extremely proud of the IROC on the sides and just HAD to have it, base LO3 or not.

It just doesn't look like a low mileage Iroc to me??? And those tires are hideous!!! I do like the 5 speed and the blue color is cool. I say its worth 6-7K tops.

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
I dont think it's worth over 5k, honestly. 35k just isnt that low of miles. 10k yes, 15k yes... Beyond 25,000 Im just not sure the mileage really inflates the price that far. You get to a point of diminishing returns. As mentioned, 35k is close to 50, and from there it's just a used IROC... with base everything.

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
It's a dealer asking full book retail for the the car. I think the the car is worth between $8000 and $9000 depending on the details of it's condition.

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
That car has been listed for at least 8 months; I saw it when I started looking for mine. If it had better performance options then his asking price would make sense, but as is he's a little high. Plus, the photos make it look just a tad weathered.

Yeah, I know. It just doesn't look very fresh to me either. And could that dealer find cheaper tires?
But the color and 5 speed caught my eye too.

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
More than likely having sat on the lot for so long, it's in need of a good detailing. Granted those pics were probably taken when they got it, but it still may have been in need of an afternoon marinade in good ol' Meguiar's #26.

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks a car is worth....it's the guy holding the title that sets the price.... When I sell one of my toys it's because someone wants it more then I do.
Price is such a relative thing... Sometimes a high asking price is nothing but a fishing expedition, waiting for someone to come by with a nicer car for less money and he snags it. Lots of reasons for a high asking price, but normally it's because that's what the guy wants or he'll just keep it...
To me it's nothing but another boring stock 3rd Gen and the price is too high to consider it for a project car but to some restoration freak, it might look cheap!!!! But then my opinion doesn't matter, ain't my car!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Okay, how overpriced is this '89 IROC?
One thing to keep in mind is that most people lowball to pathetic levels, so if he actually put the price he wanted (say $9k), he'd get lowballers offering $4k. If he puts it at $13k, it might discourage the $4k lowballers, and bring in the $7k-$8k lowballers, from which he can work up to the $9k he wants.
It's really just a matter of sticking the price higher than what you want for the car so that negotiation gets you the real price you want while making the other guy feel warm and fuzzy that he saved money.
