1989 Camaro RS budget Build
Finally decided to start my own thread about my build. This is one way to keep my things documented for later reference. I am currently senior in college and the only income I have is money I make from my co-op job. I pay for my housing, food, school items, my truck and what ever is left goes to the car and girlfriend. Being a broke college student does not help with this hobie.
Quick history on the car: I bought it when I was 17 years old for 2500 bucks. Came with 2.8 and stick. At first appeared to be a solid car with no rust, new paint and low mileage (under 100k). That was only the beginning. Here some pictures on the car with wheels I put on it after 6 month of owning the car.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS budget Build
This post is dedicated to the work done while I was in high school. I started this project with 0 knowledge in cars and everything I learned is due to doing the work all myself with some help from friends and my father.
The engine in these pictures is 305. It was free so I took it and used it as learning experience.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS budget Build
Fast forward 3 years... A lot has happened. This is not the current stance of the car, but a fair representation. All the work in these pictures was done in 2 months in a tiny garage with limited tools past summer. I do not have time to work on the car during school session so I only do it when I am working. Sorry for pics - some were taken with a cell phone because I can't afford a good camera
I bout the engine for 350 bucks that had 10k miles on the rebult and went from there.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS budget Build
Here are some pictures of the engine installed in the car.
I will get some more of the most current pics, since these are from the summer. The car runs now but I am still tinkering with it. Edelbrock carb is giving me a lot of trouble (always has- I want holley back). I will also write up a list of modifications that is done do day.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS budget Build
Thank you. Yes, those seats came with the car, but they will be gone soon... They may look clean in the picture but there are spots where they are wearing through and no matter how hard I tried to clean there are stains that just won't come out . I am desperately looking for a decent dash board. When I bought the car it had a perfect one. I took it out to do some work, but someone dropped it and will not admit to it. (and I know who did it, but it does not matter lol). Carpet went through some serious cleaning as well a while back. Its a bad and messy picture of interior, hopefully I will have a better one soon.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS budget Build
yeah, they can be tricky, but I bought one for around $120, and I've seen them as cheap as $100 here. It's a huge plus to find one you don't have to have shipped.
