build sheet
i just traded my 71 el camino that was in poor condition for a yellow 87 camaro the guy told me it was an iroc but we all know how that goes. can anyone tell me where the build sheet should be. the reason i need to kno is cause the rpo code sheet is not in my console.the car does have some details of an iroc like the heavy sway bars and posi rear its an f code on the vin so its a 305 car and it dnt have disc brakes on the rear.will the build sheet tell me if its a true iroc?

The build sheet for the car is long gone.
But if the VIN has "F" for the engine code (305 TPI) it was a IROC-Z28 when it left the Norwood assembly plant.

Re: build sheet
From the pic... The ground effects are body colored, 16" wheels, it sure LOOKS like an Iroc.
Look in the drivers side door jamb for the tire placard. Z28 will show 15" tires, an Iroc will show 245/50VR50's. This only applies to 85-87 cars, 88-up the Iroc could be had with 15's.
Build sheets could be anywhere in the car, and may not be there at all. It's a wild goose chase, not even worth looking for. Compnine doesn't have info on cars before about 1990 unless they're Canadian. Tire placards are rarely faked or even noticed.

Re: build sheet
ok found build sheet its not readable it was under the carpet in the hatch. the good news is the tire placard does call for 245/50/16. it puzzles me why it dnt have rear disc brakes. i am positive this is an IROC! and the yellow i love dnt see any this color

Re: build sheet
There's no correlation between rear discs and the Iroc package... The Iroc package for 1987 is monochrome paint, 16" wheels, special shocks/struts, FE2 suspension, and badging. The disc brakes were determined more by drivetrain and availability.
Honestly, be glad you don't have the early iron caliper discs, they're garbage. Your drums probably stop better then the iron caliper discs.

thanks for the info drew this makes 9 third gen cars i've owned but the first iroc it has a few options like big sway bars, posi rear, overhead console, pull down hatch, auto dark rear veiw mirror, power driver seat, and power mirrors. thatsw all i can think of right now. this is the first one i've had with black interior and it still has the factory floor matts.prolly the most excited i've been about a car in a while to bad its been wrecked on the drivers side and i have to work on it before i get to cruise it.glad i have the 88 to drive while wrenching.

Yellow with black interior, probably has the gold striping, emblems, and wheels (or did when new). Very cool you found the build sheet, too bad you can't read it. Also puzzled by the lack of rear disc brakes. Norwood or Van Nuys car?
