It doesn't have anything earlier then 90 for F-bodies. It's been posted many times.

That's sweet! It says I have this option: 81PWHEEL COLOR,BRIGHT RED (81P)
15,098
yet my wheels aren't red at all?

Re: Find all options and build date by vin number

I thought that the 91 Z28 came with red colored wheels if the car was originally red?

Re: Find all options and build date by vin number

It's because the car is Canadian Z49. The database has quite a bit of Canadian vehicles prior to 1990. I think Douglas meant to include that footnote, but since the majority aren't Z49s..

In the factory photos thread there is a ton of red Z28's with red wheels. Mine has no red on them at all, and they never have. Since I've had the car the wheels are just silver or gray or whatever that color is.

Re: Find all options and build date by vin number

There are a couple different accent colors for the 91-92 16" wheels. Silver/gray is the most common, but red and white are also common. The most uncommon have a gold tint.

Yes, sorry, that should of been a footnote on my comment.

Look at your RPO list to see what wheels originally came on your car. Wheel color will be a two digit number with a P after it. This tells you the original wheel color. If it is 84P it is gunmetal grey, 85P it is medium slate grey metallic, or 86P is grey metallic if your wheels are original and haven't been changed at some time.
Other colors might be:

33P Driftwood metallic
34P Light mesa brown
36P Yellow
37P Bright teal metallic
40P White
41P Black
42P Turquoise metallic
43P Bright aqua
50P Blue, white
52P Gold metallic
57P Beige metallic
72P Garnet red metallic
81P Bright red

Re: Find all options and build date by vin number

RPO code in the center console says 81P, so they should be bright red. Yet my car has no trace of red on any of the 4 wheels and I've owned it for a year now.

Quick cell phone pic of the wheels in my garage attached.

Both my red 91 RS and my red 92 z28 had the red accents on the rim but both started to turn pink over the years.

Some red 91-92 camaros did not come with the red accent rims. I have seen a few over the years.

LOL I've never seen a set that was still red... By 95 when I got into these cars they were already all turned pink.

Chances are someone repainted them or swapped them for wheels without the painted accents. The red (pink) got old really fast.

Re: Find all options and build date by vin number

Are there any other websites that I can check? I input my VIN# (both uppercase and lowercase) but it cant seem to locate my car. I dont have the RPO sheet (its missing from my console) and would love to go thru all my options.
Thanks

Most of the cars in the database older then about 1990 are export cars. Most domestic market cars before 90 aren't in the system.

I think (actually I know) it says every VIN is rare. Don't take it personally, but it seriously always says each car is 1 of 10 or less. The explanation is right below the figure...

My car is really common, why does this indicate that it's rare?
If you parked your car next to one of the hundreds or thousands of similar cars in our database you probably couldn't tell them apart, but that doesn't mean they aren't different.

For example, some may have an RPO listing for the plant in which they were built. If yours was one of only a few that came out of that plant with a given list of options, it would come back as rare. Another car may have all the same options but was built at a different facility and thusly it's considered different.
Now if you follow the link to check option combinations that matter, the big options, you'll get a more realistic number.

For example... You've got a 92 Firebird base model, with the W68 aero package, CC1 T-tops, L03 305 TBI, MD8 automatic transmission, and FE1 soft ride suspension. That's about as specific as most anyone is going to care, anything more minor is just not that important.

Answer: Of the 22,334 vehicles in our database matching the year and model, 3,910 have all of those rpo codes.
Make's a lot more sense why there are a ton of cars that are pretty much the same when there are 4,000 instead of two. Also consider that 1991 was pretty much exactly the same, you can do the same search and find another 6,000 cars with almost identical major options. So in other words, aside from year, color, insignificant options, etc your car is 1 of about 10,000 similar cars.

Now if you knock it down to how many were this color with that radio, and power windows, and were built on a Tuesday, it sounds rare... But that's bench racing logic that doesnt really hold water, even with muscle cars from the late 60's.

All the RPO codes listed when you put in you VIN are what's currently on the car or all the possible ones? I'm kind of confused on how to read the charts. Anyone explain it a bit for me please?

The top section contains the RPO codes for that specific VIN. There's a break (where "Rarity" heading appears) and everything below that is RPO codes possible for that Year, but not specific for the provided VIN.

Awsome thank you!

Now, if only it had my build date... My build date sticker is too faded for me to read it. Maybe a high tech digital camera and some photoshop magic can recover the date...

Vehicle: CAMARO RS 2 DR
Year: 1990
Build Date: Unk.
Also...
There are 21 1990 CAMARO RS 2 DR vehicles (0.064%) matching your exact options list. There are 51 (0.155%) with at least as many options.
Makes me feel a little special.

Re: Find all options and build date by vin number

The rarity thing on there should be done away with as it is misleading. All it does is find 100% matches based on all that information. Look at all the fields that are administrative and not about the physical car itself. It checks for matches there as well.
