could someone help me find out the history of my 85 trans am???

i know the basics from the vin decoder but i have never seen another one like this and was wondering if there was anything special about it... any help would be greatly appreciated

 

if you had rpo's those would help you out also as to any options the car had or has

 

Rpo's would deffinatly help if you have them. I have a similar problem got the vin ofcourse but no rpo sheet anywhere on the car.

 

the vin doesnt say anthing is out of the ordinary about your car, just a basic lb9 trans am

 

that's the problem i am having.. the interior has been stripped before i got it again and along with it the rpo sheet so i'm just checking out my other options here

 

what makes you think its different? i think they did come with birds on them as an option i would try to see if you can search anything on here to see what comes up about the bird

 

Sounds like you got a nice 85! Try to identify little things like, what rear end did it have, was it a ws6 car, t-tops ect... Then just take it from there. I hope you can find out more about your ride. Good luck!

it has four wheel disc brakes and from looking at the suspension setup from what i've heard comparing it has the ws6 suspension too, it's also a t top car, it had the 700r4 trans in it and if i'm not mistaken i do believe the rear has the 3.42 setup in it, the thing is though i don't know if these cars came with the paint scheme mine has from the factory or not... i have never seen another black on gold 85 anywhere

 

ive seen a black one with gold accents and a gold bird on it that was supposedly factory. 4 wheel disc brakes is 1le option i believe ws6 is suspension and to be honest its not really that unique. if its tpi then the 3:42 rear gears is option g92. other than that its basically just any regular t/a with probably some exterior options, i wouldnt call it rare just unique

 

yeah this one is gold with a black bird and black trim around it, also the guy i got it from the first time told me it came with an alpine cassette deck and it had the built in amp... it has the boost control lever from the factory built in the dash, as i said before i don't know much about these at all just tryin to figure out what all could have come factory and what was added after, i do plan to restore it to complete factory condition with "slight" mods

 

ive never heard of an alpine one but if heard of there being bose cd players that were quite unusual for these to have, but im not too sure on alpine, ry to search around in the gistory section and hopefully some other member will put in there two cents because i wouldnt fully rely on just what one or two people say. not that im trying to lie to you i just am not 100% positive as i say mostly im recalling these things

 

yeah i know what you mean, i hear dabout the bose thing too and had never heard about an alpine system either, that's why i was curious, alson... any ideas on the paint? i spent the past three days tryin to find one with at least the similar gold on it but came up with nothing

 

even the bird between the tailights on the rear cover below the hatch is black with gold

 

can you get some more pics just to possibly help out a little more, factory cars came wth color schemes meaning if you had a red car all your emblems were bound to be some sort of red or it could be your trim color

 

i have more pics in another thread of it trin to figure it out but not getting anywhere with that one lol
