84 or 86 shop manual?

I found a guy with a bunch of shop manuals but my car is an 85 camaro which he does not have? He does have 84 and 86 manuals. Which would be best.

86

There where a fair number of changes between 84 and 85, but not as many changes between 85 and 86.

I'd agree with that... Generally 82-84, 85-86, 87-89, and 90-92 are how I'd break up the production run into like models. 87 kind of blurs with 86 and 88, and there are always one year only issues.

Kind of depends what information you want the manual for...

Easy as dirt to find an 85 manual, though. There's over a dozen of them for sale on eBay right now.

Re: 84 or 86 shop manual?

Just general info. To supplement my Haynes. It is a set , both GM, Shop Manual and service Manual for 18. And it is within driving distance from my house. I am more interested in the wiring diagrams, for my motor is not original, but I figure things like brakes and the such will hopefully be same in 86 as 85

Wiring diagrams aren't in the service manuals after 84, you need an Electrical Diagnosis Supplement.

What about the Shop Manual. He sent pics. Each one is about 1.5 to 2 inches thick. Look like Geneuine chevrolet manuals that the techitions would use.

That's what I'm talking about. 84 was the last year they put the wiring diagrams inside. After that, they're in a supplement published separately.

Sorry. What you said about 84s was put up while I was typing my question. Did not see it. That is why I am part of TGO. I would have never known that. Do you think it 84 and 86 have same wiring for the most part? If so I can just get the 84 and 86 sets

The chassis wiring is largely the same.

My 85 shop manual has the wiring diagrams.

Because I'm **** in such matters, I'd personally rather have a shop manual specific to my car.
