Re: How to Determine

Welcome to the board. Comments:

1) There is no such thing as a 1987 RS, unless you count a few thousand, V6-only models produced for the CA market, specifically. The chances of finding a real RS, 23 years later, across the US is pretty slim. Not impossible, but slim.

2) I would assume you have a Z28 based on the fact you have ground effects and the dash badge. An 87 base coupe would not have ground effects.

Do you still have the RPO sheet in the center console? Its a white sticker with a bunch of 3 digit codes.

Re: How to Determine

...which is easily swapped with a Z28 logo. If the engine is original, there is no way its an 87 RS because as I said, RS was V6-only in 87. Do the ground effects have "scoops" in them? Its possible someone swapped ground effects long ago.

The car is 23 years old...anything could've happened to it.

Re: How to Determine

Post up all but the last 6 digits of your VIN and we can tell you what engine originally came in the car... It might help.

You might have to just take your best guess, become an expert on the subject and look for clues.
