I thought the last year for a carb'd F-body was in 1985....

Until my buddy showed me his factory 1987 Firebird with a carb'd 305.

1987. 1988 they switched to TBI.

That would be wierd because in 1987 the Factory LG4 305 was the standard engine with carb,

they introduced tbi/tpi in 85 on a few models. carb had the largest selection, then as the years went on more and more tbi/tpi less carb

TBI in the traditional sense of the L03 was introduced for the 1988 model year. The basic technology had been around as long as Cross Fire Injection, and was used on the 4cyl cars, but as far as the low output V8's 88 was the first year.
